Take your bet !
Cars that have enough torque and a heavy enough flywheel can get the car moving by slowly releasing the clutch w/o gas. Once it moves forward steadily, you an release the clutch completely and let it glide. Course, if the car is moving too slow, the car will stall. I did this a few times when I was learning to get better left foot control in the G.

have u already read chilibowl's 6mt tips? i attached it to this post for u in case. make sure you know where the friction point on ur clutch is, when u let off it theres that leeway where the car rolls a little safely without stalling...knowing and getting used to this helps with reverse/take off especially because its at this friction point that u can safely give some throttle and proportionately let off the clutch completely ..also i suppose in the beginning stages u can baby ur clutch more and shift slowly and rev match slowly as well....
honestly stalling at slow speeds is ok...but if u are gear grinding and misshifting at high speeds - or if u downshift improperly (6th to 2nd on accident above 70 MPH) u could cause some uneven wear/tear or even damage from mechanical overrev....i would MOST DEFINITELY look into some type of a rental or borrowing of someone's M/T civic or something and practice a day on it. During this time ur chance for bumping a curb or even another car is probably higher as well. The G is a car where if you are amatuer enough to stall a khazzilion times you probably didnt have enough practice to begin with. I myself needed approx 2,000 miles to even get to my intermediate status with my 6M/T and thats even after I kinda knew how to drive M/T from the past. u should have been good enough to only stall a few times and maybe just not shift smoothly on your first drive. Anyways if u continue practicing in the G pick good times and good roads and take it easy!
Good luck!

Hey Vince,
I'm glad you made it home from the dealership without getting into an accident! The number one piece of advice I can give you about learning how to drive a manual transmission is to remain calm. It won't help things if you get nervous or frustrated. That was the tough part when my ex-girlfriend was teaching me how to drive stick (on an old Jeep Wrangler, no less). Ha!

im in toronto actually.
my problem is really at take-off. after that its really easy, grant you not butter smooth, but i dont stall.
.
btw. is it possible to stall on reverse ? haha. cuz i MANAGED to back my car out today, and didnt stall at all. so just wondering.
.
funny story. i got stuck on a fairly steep driveway today. kept stalling and coudlnt get the car back into the garage. so just had to wait for family help. =\
.
im gooing to go ahead and take some damn lessons.

There is one part about that 6mt driving tips I'm not sure applies to our cars, correct me if I'm wrong here. I could have sworn I was going 5-10mph a few times in 2nd gear, and was able to easily clutch and and shift into 1st gear without stopping. Does the 1st gear gate really close and make us have to FORCE it in? I don't think that is true with this car because I didn't force the gear, it was as easy as any other gear shift and no car lunging or anything. This kind of behavior can happen a lot if you are stuck in a stop and go traffic.
