I love 3rd gear
Just wanted to share with everyone that I absolutely love 3rd gear in this car for the cut and run of Japanese city driving. 3rd gear offers such a wide range to work with and poking along puts you right at the bottom of the torque curve so just a tap of the right foot and the car is slipping into open spaces in traffic with no effort. I also love the fact that the engine is so much smoother than the old 3.5 in my old 350GT. I used to drop it into 4th gear as quickly as possible to lessen the vibes and noise coming through from the engine, but this new 3.7 is smooth and I find myself cruising along in 3rd gear between 3000 - 4000 revs all the time.
And then in the mountains, 3rd gear offers great flexibility when I want to run it hard, great thrust out of the curves and then great engine braking before the next corner.
If you couldn't tell I am really happy with my new ride and just amazed how much better it is compared to the old 350GT. The only complaints that I have are the damn beeps that start to happen as soon as I shut off the car. What are they reminding/warning me of? And who was the idiot engineer who decided it would be good to make owners want to get out of their car as quickly as possible?
Thanks for listening,

Callaway-san,
Thanks for the follow-up. I was wondering if that wasn't the case.
So is it just me or is anyone else bothered by the beeping after the engine is shut down? Sometimes I get two different beeps at different tones and different rhythms at the same damn time and it drives me nuts. My old car only beeped if I left the keys in the ignition, well there is no ignition to leave the keys in, so what is the meaning of these damn beeps. I asked the local dealer if there was anyway they could stop it, but they just shook their heads and said nope. I know it is a minor thing, but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth every time I get out of the car.
Ok, I fell a little bit better now. And nothing like hijacking my own post...

I get the beeps just after opening the door after having shut down the engine. And sometimes it is one beep, other times it is two beeps. Drives me freaking nuts!!! Oh and the beeping that starts once I disconnect my seatbelt when I am parking. Would like to line up the engineers and lawyers responsible for these damn beeps and shoot them all in the big toe.
Hey me too!! I thought it was cause I was leaving the door ajar but heck I am trying to get out of the car. As much as I would like to spend every waking minute in it I have to relieve myself every once in a while, don't I?
lolo, if I could find that engineer from the States I would be asking him/her the exact same question but I think you are closer to that person than I am.
Maybe we should start a little pot to the person that can figure this out sort of like the X Prize.

I thought the beeps were just me not knowing all of the quirks and having to fess up that I haven't read the manual front to back
What the heck is the deal with all of the warning beeps? I even left the key in with it running figuring it would really BEEP and it let out one little chirp enough as to say "it's ok to leave the keys in here with the car running, go ahead and go".
The warning beeps are not consistent at all...
