I usually fill up when I get down to 1/4 tank, so I never know how many more miles I have left.

I'll have to try running it closer to empty one of these days and get a more accurate reading.

That looks right to me. That's what I'm getting.

 

sure you do...subtract what you put in from 20 gal (tank capacity) and then multiply by your avg mileage....

for instance you put in 15 gallons (3/4 tank) that means you have 5 gal left...at say 15 mpg...you'd have 75 more miles before you're hitchiking...

I've found the trip computer to be fairly accurate and it matches my actual fill calcs pretty close....although when it says you have "0" miles left before empty you have around 2 gallons left...at least for my car.

 

The trip computer apparently has a bit of safety measure built in since I took mine about 12 miles past the point in which it says "*****" on the distance to empty and after 402 miles since last fillup. Filled it up at the local station and it topped off after 17.5 gallons.

 

yeaa i have driven mine 10 miles or so when it said ----... wasn't comfortable about it though. lol
