Don't get your windshield busted
We were 20 miles south of Daytona, FL going north on I 95 with a gaggle of cars when we got into road debris. Somebody threw either a large rock or something else back into the left corner of the windshield. Of course it busted and cracked. Luckily we got it back to Raleigh, NC. Our glass guy said not to drive it as it could completely come apart. Windshield is only available from Infiniti at over $700.00. Hopefull we will have iit fixed by next Tuesday.

State Farm insurance in SC replaces your windshield for free if anything at all happens to it. I am not sure if its a State Farm thing or a state law. Perhaps your area is similar?

You should also get a price quote from a reputable place that only handles glass replacement. You can probably get it replaced for $250-300 if your insurance doesn't cover it.

You might also double check with State Farm (if that is your insurance co) as they told me (for Missouri anyway) they no longer covered winshields under the 'free replacement' program they used to have a few years ago. I found out the hard way.

I just caught a rock on I-12 last week resulting in a nice divet and nickel-sized mark. A local windshield repair service came out and "fixed" it for $35. The chip is still there, but the circle is gone.
Honestly, the windshield is fairly strong. I've taken numerous "hits" with only the one major spot and a few minor chips.

I have a 40" crack running along the bottom 3" of my windshield. Happened about 2 weeks after taking ownership. The crack spread immediately, and no time to get a ding place to fix it.
In a weird way, I'm glad it wasn't the upper part of the hood it hit (above the 3M) and was just the lower part of the windshield.
Still - going to have to pay the insurance premium to replace it. Since it's not a shatter and only a crack, I'm going to just leave it until Spring, let it take the abuse of winter, and hope someone makes an aftermarket cheaper windshield that costs less than my deductible.

The windshield is toast. There are pieces of glass on the dashboard and cracks over a foot long in it. The windshield is only available from Infiniti as it is such a new car and no aftermarket manufacturer is making it yet.

Side note about infiniti glass a lil OT...
I had 7 scratches in the back quarter glass that showed up when I had it tinted... Took it to the dealer and they said the only thing they could do was replace the glass... they said give them a week to order it and get it in...
Service is soo much better than NISSAN...
Black Beast... was the 700 price installed or just to order the glass?

$700.00, that's a bargain. I recently got a stone chip in the windshield of my 2007 Lexus GX470. For the heck of it I got the price of a replacement windshield from Lexus. Price was $2,100.00, and that was a discounted price for just the windshield itself. I didn't even ask what labor would be. I tried one of those stone chip repair places (Safelite) and the repair seems ok.
But you certainly sound like you need a new windshield.

For anybody that has the small type of damage that can be repaired, it's a good idea to put a piece of clear tape over the damaged area to keep out dirt and moisture until you can get the repair completed.

Yes, the price of the windshield is over 700 and installed it is going to be 950.00. The good news is that it came in yesterday and will be installed today. The Infiniti boys did good as it was ordered on Monday and they got it here Thursday and that includes New Years Day on Tuesday. Wife will be happy as she is not fun to be around when her baby is wounded.
