Sport or non-Sport question
OK, I've got our G37 DG Journey with Tech, Premium, Nav, and Tire & Wheel on order, but the order doesn't go out until Dec 1st. So my silly question is "how stiff is the sport option"? Please don't flame me on this question because I've currently got a Nissan Murano SE that I swear is worse that a 3/4 Ton 4x4 truck. This Murnowill be going the way of an FX35 once the G37 is with us for a few months.
Now back to the question "how much stiffer/rougher is the sport from the Journey?
Thanks

no one can tell you how stiff YOU'D want a suspension. I say take a test drive in an "S" and find out if it's worth it to you to get the sport package.
for me...comming from a 350Z...i NEEDED to have a stiffer suspension.

I can see how people say the suspension is too stiff. It's fun if you want to do some spirited driving, but for a daily driver, it can be a pain in the @$$ on bumpier roads. My advice is that if you're going to use this car heavily as a commuter and want the comfort of a softer suspension, then don't get the sport package. I plan on driving my Accord into the ground as a daily commuter, which is why I enjoy having the sport package.
I drive a 2004 Audi A4 on a daily basis. I consider the A4 a good handling car with a good compromise between comfort and handling. When my wife and I test drove the G37 sport we both said WOW this is pretty stiff. However, the road outside the dealer was rough. Once we hit smoother roads it really seemed liveable, and we both forgot our initial reaction.
Kinda OT- A few observations after driving the G37s, A4, and 335 in the same day. I drive/drove all 3 cars hard but not anywhere close to the limit. My comments are more geared towards "spirited" driving that all out, at the limit performance. The Infiniti and BMW felt about the same in grip and overall handling. The Audi maybe a small notch down(heck its 4 years old). The BMW and Audi both had less body roll that the 37, but both had a softer ride. The Infiniti also felt a little more jittery in corners that were less than perfect. The Germans have really seemed to master the whole luxury ride with performance handling thing.
Overall I enjoyed the Infiniti's ride the most. Looking to step up from my Audi the Infiniti offered the most differential. I felt like I was in a very solid sports car. Very much like C-5 Corvette's I've driven in the past. Actually the Infiniti seemed to offer more dialouge with the road than the Vette did.
Just my .02..........

I test drove both the sport and non-sport....I bought the non-sport with the tire package....the roads in Wa are so rough that I wanted as smooth a ride as I could get yet still have a sporty feel..........the sport model was definitely a firmer / noisier ride. I will never go to a track or push it to the limit where I would need the extra firm suspension so I went with the smoother choice.......I know many will not agree with my reasoning but that's why they offer both...

OK, Thanks everyone, I did drive the S today and it's not for me. Thanks to everyone for their comments too. I came to this decision by, 1 - Driving a sport G37 today and 2 - knowing my daily drive the roads are not the best. Now I just have to wait for it to come in.
Thanks again..
Thanks again..
Oops I forgot to say, We've ordered a G37 Journey, Platinum Graphite, Stone Leather / Washi Aluminum.
Options; Premium Package, Technology Package, Performance and Tire Package, Navigation Package.

Congrats!!! You'll be happy. I got sport, but I'm a "spirited" driver and enjoy a stiffer suspension.

sport package is worth every penny....and i dont think the ride is harsh at all even over bumps....but i'm used to a dropped '99 maxima that's horrible over bumps
