Daylight Savings Time

Okay, I was hoping someone else was going to ask this question, but it looks like I may be the only one having this problem.

My display clock did not reset for the end daylight savings time. I went through the manual, and it says that the system gets it's time directly from GPS. My analog clock did reset though.

I reviewed the settings and they are for my time zone and the daylight savings time box was checked.

In order to get the display to read correctly, I had to turn the feature off. That can't be right.

Any help would be appreciated.

Turning off the Daylight Saving feature is the only thing I can think of that works. That's also what I had to do for my atomic alarm clock.

Your analog clock automatically reset?

Mine also needed the "DST" box unchecked.

Yes, that's what made me think something was not set properly with the display clock. Maybe the system isn't picking-up the GPS signal?

To go back to another response, I never look at the analog clock either!

You are expected to manually go into the menu and enable/disable DST at the appropriate times of the year.

Remember, the GPS is satellite-driven, so it is the same for everyone on the planet. The GPS signal is most likely GMT. This is a common time that needs to be adjusted for your time zone. Some time zones use DST, others do not.

Rather than deal with those issues like my $80 Honeywell Thermostat can, Infiniti decided it would be best to just not deal with it at all and let us tell the system whether or not DST is in effect and applicable for our region.

So... yeah, not a great job by Infiniti, but it works fine. I'll give them a free pass on this one (lazy schmucks!)

Thanks mal. It's no big deal; I just thought something wasn't set right. You think it would have just been easier to have a way of simply advancing/retreating the clock an hour.

For a super high tech car that is surprising. Not disappointing, just surprising.

With the turnback date changing because of the "do-gooders" in congress, it is probably better to leave it to the user rather than have obsolete code in the firmware of the car that changes it on the wrong day and doesn't have an override.

...Yep, and even better still to implement the rules as they stand when the car is designed/built and still provide the override just in case... just like my $80 thermostat.

Not a big deal but kind of lame.

Wanted to give this old thread a bump as the DST problem just occurred because we set the clocks back over the weekend.

Turning off DST in the settings fixes the issue, which seems backwards.

Since this thread was from 07, I was wondering if anyone knows of a more elegant workaround or if they have spoken to the dealer as it has been almost 7 years and the feature is still tweaked.

Whoa, hella bump! Well, we were on DST prior to the change this past weekend. We just changed back to standard time, so it makes sense to have to turn off the DST setting to correct the time. You're just disabling the hour adjustment, not disabling the feature that controls automatic adjustments. That feature still does not exist.
