Yeah... I would find it highly unlikely that someone without intimate knowledge of the car would find the strap. If you are worried about it, fold down the seat, pull off the back carpeting (which is attached at either side by velcro and in the middle with a couple of push-in plastic screws) and tuck it into the seat back under the metal release wire. You'd never get to it that way (see pics):

i'm going to bring this to attention for the Infiniti Technical headquarters. AFter my car got broken into I do lock my rear pass through in my sedan. never want to wake up again and have missing wheels and a broken window. thank goodness for insurance.
