Future G37 owners in snow states

Nothing would make me happier (well, at least as far as the G37 is concerned...) than for the 18 in wheels to fit on the 6MT Sport. I can see where clearance could be a problem. The brake disc is 14 inches in diameter, thus 7 in radius. The 18 in wheel has a 9 in radius. That only leaves 2 in for both the brake caliper plus the wheel rim structure - even if the rim is 1 in and the caliper is 1 in, it could be very tight...
Has anyone actually tried fitting an 18 in wheel on a Sport pkg car?

Live in Seattle, where it snows maybe 2" every year with 1 nasty storm evey 10 years (oh no! - 7 inches!)
No reason for snow tires in this climate. Although I have a set for the VW Jetta if it does snow and I have to go somewhere.

I spoke to my dealer last week (the Parts Manager) since they are replacing my grille under warranty. Anyways, we got chatting about the G37 and how well they will sell up here with winter around the corner. He stated that they've already fit 18" wheels on the Sport and are offering a 18" winter wheel & tire package.
I just checked tirerack just for the heck of it and they also have 18" winter wheel & tire packages available for the G37S.

But the $1,000,000 question is if a 17" rim/tire package is do-able. Looking upon the Tirerack site, however ... doesn't seem possible. And finding an alternative to 225/50/18 in a winter tire outside of the Blizzak LM-25 ... doesn't look good, either.
Many choices in 235/50/18 -- Vredestein Wintrac, Nokian Hakkapeliitta 2, Nokian WR, Michelin X-Ice, Dunlop Winter Sport M3, to name a few. Only 1.5% bigger in circumference than 225/50/18 so you should be fine.

^^ summer tires turn to bricks in the cold. Head the advice and get a winter tire setup. I have another car and the G will wait for better weather, but I have had plenty of other cars where I had a winter tire/wheel setup and just bolted 'em on Dec.1 regardless of what the temp was outside. They came off April 1. Don't put yourself or others at risk.

Forget the model for a sec. You need WINTER TIRES for the winter regardless of what model you get. Now, I'm not sure how much it snows in NJ, but here, we get lake effect snow constantly. All season tires just won't cut it on snow and ice even if you have an AWD car.
So in other words, go for the sport if you'd like...just make sure you get winter tires for winter driving.

too much compromise in summer and in winter
Don't compromise on your safety especially when you have the money to buy this kind of car.

i still need clarification from those of you who are looking to throw winter tires on your g37. I can go to tirerack and pick out a set of 18" winter tires and wheels for my sport g37.. but some have said the tolerances are so tight due to the brake setup that we shouldnt do it. Others have said their dealer is offering a winter/tire pkg. So what are you winter guys doing?
