it finishes building today, so i guess 6 more weeks. Im still not 100% decided yet tho. I am still debating. S5, Cayman, G37 are making my decision tougher. I can see negatives and positives in all of them.

Yeah, I agree. That's why I'm doing a 24 month lease. In 2 years, there will be alot of cars out and better pricing on all the new ones (S5, 335, G37).....

Well it looks as if 001 has given his $.02 and the outcome isn't all that surprising.

AutoSpies.com final verdict:

The Good: Amazing value for the money…if your decision is based on pure value logic, the Infiniti wins hands down. A similarly equipped 335 (radar cruise, etc.) is 10k more! For the price of the 328 Coupe you could be driving the G37, and we would. Intoxicating power and a reliability record that has everyone crying in Munich. More animated design than the 335. Loved the manual over the automatic tranny. Feels pure like the BMW’s of old when they were less complicated and less soft around the edges. Stickier on hard track turns and less prone to roll. Bigger Infiniti name and badge on back strokes my bling spot.

The Bad: Over styled and not as elegant of a design compared to the 335. I personally like the old G35 coupe design better. Interior bits and plastics substantially inferior to the 3, especially dash and door materials. Less sophisticated suspension than the 3-Series. Wish they offered a better set of color choices. Fuel economy at least 3 MPG lower than the 335. No free standard maintenance included.

The Ugly: Lower sport seat cushion extremely uncomfortable to wide bottoms. If the J. Geils Band wrote a song about the stereo the title would be ‘BOSE Stinks!’

Conclusion: If all your methodology is wrapped around the best bang for the buck and reliability then the G37 is the winner. Unfortunately for us, we have always been the kind of people who vote with their hearts and not their wallets. And it always ends up costing us more money! As great as the new G37 is and it truly is an awesome vehicle, it’s still not as good as the BMW 335 in our opinion. The 335 design will stand the test of time better than the G37 and it is the authentic item. It’s like owning a piece of moving art and knowing you have the original. Romance and seduction are involved when you make emotional decisions like these. And most of the logic flies totally out the window when you know you own the best. And in the Spies opinion the BMW is not only better than the G37, it’s one of the best cars of our time. Is that bad for Infiniti? Absolutely not…because most people think logically, not emotionally, so they will sell a ton of these. They have the closest TRUE competitor to a 3-Series in history…and that’s DAMN high praise coming from us. You can buy that kind of accolade from some of our competitors, but you can’t buy it from us. Great job to all the Infiniti team for this great car.

i really hope people get over this G37 vs. 335. Just make your decision based on what you have, your taste, your mind, heart and pocket.

im just getting tired of this my-toy-is-better-than-yours business. Some cars might be more expensive, require more maintenance, and cost more overall but people still buy them for a reason. If that reason doesnt make sense to you, then get what you want

Yup, I agree. If I could have both cars I'd take them today (actually I'm really in the market for an AWD coupe. Too bad the GTR is likely going to be out of reach for me). Marketing and media will always exist, though, so it isn't like we are going to get away from people's perceptions anytime soon.

price is not a wash, an equivalent 335 is gonna be like $10k more. But then again, with a simple chip mod the 335 starts pushing near 375hp. Lease rates on bimmers are pretty darn good right now, if it were me, I'd lease the 335, drop in the vishnu chip, rag on it for a good 3 years and return it
