(MT) G37 beats 335. Does opinion matter?

From autospies:
link: http://www.autospies.com/news/Motor-Trend-says-Infiniti-G37-beats-the-BMW-335-Does-their-opinion-REALLY-matter-16933/

Motor Trend says Infiniti G37 beats the BMW 335. Does their opinion REALLY matter? We've been getting a lot of comments about the recent article in Motor Trend that picked the Infiniti G37 Coupe over the BMW 335 Coupe. But the bigger question is- Does their opinion REALLY matter anymore and will their review have any effect on public perception and more importantly, sales
We say five years ago maybe, but not in today's world. The car mags have become irrelevant in our opinion and will never return to their former luster. There is only one opinion that really matters anymore and that is yours.
Do you agree? We'd love to hear your thoughts.

Apparently it does matter, otherwise the BMW boys would not be throwing a temper tantrum. It doesn't matter to me because even before this review came out, I thought the G37 was the better car, hence why I ordered one.

magazine opinions do matter, but only those who agree with my opinion

seriously, i really dont give a crap about their conclusion or story line. i only read numbers. most of the time magazine editors are completely biased and they base their rating on "feel" and other things that cannot be quantifiable.
thanks for the link

I personally believe that it's THEIR opinion. It doesn't really matter to me since I feel that both cars are great. I like the G37 more than the 335i so even though the G37 came up to be the winner for Motor Trend... the G37 was always #1 for me.

It must matter to some. The mere fact that it has caused such an uproar is the proof. It was only a matter of time before the nod was given to Infiniti. They were only lacking in certain areas which only needed a mild redesign to fix. I think people are blowing it out of proportion though. In no way did the new G coupe trounce the 3 nor should have MT put "The King is dead!" (I know MT wants to sell their mags...and they'll sell alot of them). In my opinion both cars are worthy of my purchase.

I read the 4 page article if you can really call it that. The first two pages was mostly taken up by page full shots of the two cars, then the next two were half pages and the final page was commandeered by the spec sheet on both cars. The article was light, not too informative for gearheads, and IMO, the whole oil cooler gripe on BMW was too coincidental. I'm also disappointed that only the AT models were reviewed, even with MT's excuses.

My biggest disappointment? G37 is 3,700lbs. WTF?

Actually, Infiniti posted its weight at 3680. I think I'd rather believe Infiniti/Nissan, they built the car, they should know...

I think that's without the 4WAS though. Does anyone know how much that should add?

readin the specs on page 4, the g37 is not producing good numbers. 0-60 5.4 0-100 13.9

holy ****t i thought that this thing would run much better 0-60 and 0-100

i really am not impressed with its numbers so far.. i would like it to be 0-60 in about 5.2 (auto) and the 1/4 mile to be mid or low 13s

WHEN IS INFINITI GOING TO RELEASE THE OFFICIAL SPECSS!!!!

I think Infiniti is going to release the 0-60 time as 5.3 [5.5]. It's the same as the 335i on the BMW website for the coupe, which I find puzzling.

Why? What the mags run in real life is probably more accurate than any 'production specs'. Even better would be what actual owners can get out of them. Motor Trend is pretty good at getting the best out of their test cars (at least mag-wise)

Anyway, why are you surprised? Look at the weight. Geez, how heavy can you make a RWD coupe? I thought the GTO was heavy
