Is it growing on anyone?

looks like a fish or something aquatic to me. Not out of jealousy but I think Gen 1 6MT is cleaner, more original.

Now we have a Scion TC which is a half a$$ version of the G35 and the Altima Coupe coming out, the uniqueness is wearing a bit but I dont think the Gen 2 does anything refreshing. I'll just have to see it in person though. The new sedan doesn't look half as good in photos as it does when standing next to one.

The engine, at least on paper, is a totally different story though.

I remember how much I hated the new design of BMW when they first came out but they have grown on me. Especially the 335 coupe! Just have to wait and see.

some thoughts - the g37 has nice engine mods, the torque is pathetic tho. interior is boring, just like the 07 sedan (much better than the 1st gen tho). what's worse is the huge weight increase, my 03 weighs 250 lbs lighter (3435 vs 3682), and its already a tub of lard. also, the coupe is way too tall, they shoulda dropped it 1.8 inches to 53.0 instead of .1 inches to 54.7 and made it wider.

the tires are too narrow!!! if the 350z gets 245 fronts and 265 mm rears, why can't the g37 with its much improved engine and chassis? again infiniti blew it. but most of all, the front bumper sucks complete a*s, the car is too conservative in its evolution and generally not aggressive enough.

i predict the 335 is still noticeably faster... i bet the g37 coupe will do 5.0 seconds to 60 and 13.5 in the 1/4. barely as fast as the is350, respectable but not given the hp ratings.

despite these complaints and huge disappointment in the styling, i still like the car and will consider it or the bmw 335 coupe as my next ride.
Z has 225/245.

Without seeing a torque plot you can't say anything. I think Nissan has made their engines too mid-range torquey before, and it seems they're finally taking a page out of BMWs book by creating engines that breathe well up top but still have decent mid-range.

Take a look a the M3 specs: 333hp/269tq. That's nearly identical here, and NO ONE complains about the M3 engine. That thing doesn't feel like it has a lack of torque at all, but unlike the current VQ35 (non-HR, haven't driven it yet), it doesn't feel like it's starving for air around 5000-6000 RPM.

I also think the concept coupe looks pretty close to the legit product. They always put oversized rims and slam cars in concept photos. I'm the only one on this board who prefers the new front end over the concepts. I like the big center opening; it's very similar to the e46 M3's aggressive lower fascia, and I think the e46 is a timeless BMW design.

There is an expression that if a woman is really ugly, you can put a bag over her head. For a car, what can you do? Buy a massive front end bra or have a car cover velcroed to the new Coupe? The Coupe hasn't even debuted yet and already it needs a facelift. Anyone know any plastic surgeons that can operate on the new Coupe?

the 2007 nissan 350z has 245 mm fronts and 265 mm rears:

btw, the e46 has only a 3.2 liter engine that is just as powerful as the g37 but needs 0.5 liter less. that's far superior. infiniti can't match bmw engines for sure, tho they're trying.

I'll probably get flamed on this one, but don't the headlights kinda look like the Solara's?

And doesn't this pic kinda resemble a Tiburon?

I think I'll be keeping my 06 and save up for the GT-R instead...

^ That's ridiculous, it looks nothing like a solara, show the whole front end, then say that. Also, like any new model, once the new one gets used to, then the old ones always look exactly that, old. I have an 06 and i love it, but c'mon, after a few are on the road, all you people will be changing your tunes. Also, I don't care what anyone says, who cares if a 335 is faster in a straightline, it is still not a good looking car, contrary to my above statement, this is the rare case where the outgoing model looks better than the new. I almost bought a 330 coupe before I bought the G, I would never buy a new one, it's not good looking at all. I can't wait to drive the new one.

I only said that the headlights looked like the Solara headlights, not the entire front end.

i'm not a big fan of where the hood ends. I think it would look better if it came all the way to the grill like the current models. Just my $0.02

As others have said, all of this speculating about how the G37 looks is a waste of time because until we see one in person, we won't know for sure. I'd be surprised if the G37 doesn't look far superior in person that it does in pictures. As a matter of fact almost every car does, with the exception of most BMWs which look equally ugly in pictures and in person. Moreover, almost by anyones standards the G37 isn't so ugly that it will stop people from buying it. IMO what will determine if the G37 will be hugely successful is its performance. If it is competitive with the 335's performance, then Infiniti wil sell them as fast as they can build them. Otherwise, they may have problems. The performance bar is much higher than it was in 2003.

my point exactly this is true before i purchased my 05 i would look at pictures online and so forth i didnt really pay attention to them in the street then i went to the dealer and saw one on the showroom floor and it blew me away even the colors on infiniti site look different from when you build your car online and go there in person

The '08 Coupe.............

Come on guys, get used to looking at that funky front end......NOT! If I
wanted a new G for the extra HP and the new interior I'd be ordering a new
frontend from GReddy and the problem would be solved. I couldn't get used
to that frontend just like I wouldn't want to get used to having a Camery in
my garage......got it?

I agree that the pictures look like the Tiberon. But I was looking at an 07 G-sedan yesterday- It has the same hood bumps but they are barely noticeable. I think the funky looking hood is a picture artifact. I believe it will look much better in person.
