No no.. it doesnt look anything like the Altima Coupe. Are u for real? Not even 10% of it does. That would never come to mind. I dont know how one can even compare the design of this to the Altima Coupe. If you did than heck yeah we are confirming that much more of how unattractive the new generation has really become.

The issue is what 99% of consumers expected, that is that the new generation would at least look similar to the concept. It looks nothing like the concept for one thing. It looks nothing like what most of us imagines as to cosmetics. The G35c made a hit in 03 for its phenomenally sexy looks. People would actually stare and or look at me driving my G35c 03 when I first got in one of very few owners in TO. My lease just ended the othr day by the way, and now its gone. I was considering the G37C, and now its much less desirable to be honest.


I have to agree like most that Im shocked & very surprised w/ the G37c cosmetically. Theres not one thing gorgeous or eye catching about it compared to the old Gen G35c. I was expecting something at least close to the concept. I also realized this isnt a joke either? Infiniti designers screwed up big time with regards to the design of the G37C new generation. Performance, engine, technology, you name it no complaint. But I mean come on, how the hell could they have designed this model w/ so much similarity to the 07 G35Sedan. To be honest I found not one thing attractive w/ the old G35 Sedan generation, never liked them. I never liked the old gen G35sedan. Very unattractive. However when the G35c came out in 03 it looked nothing like it and I fell in love with it! Simply gorgeous! What an eye catcher! However this yr. I didn't mind the looks of the 07 G35Sedan. Attractive but still somewhat conservative, But come on I was expecting the 08 G37Coupe too look totally diff. From Interior to exterior all I see is an 07 G35Sedan. The Coupe is supposed to look diff than the Sedan. This generation I can assure you wont sell like the old generation. The previous coupe when it came out pretty much said "look at me" and people did especially first year. Now the new Generation Coupe is so blah. Nothing sexy about it, so conservative aiming towards the older consumer. Unreal if u ask me! Its a big screw up & Nissan/Infinti ought to be concerned. The selling point for Nissan/Infiniti has usually been about unique cosmetic style or sexy attractive looks, this is not the case. Houston we have a problem. I love the performance, the HP, the unique technology, Innovation u name it, but key factor "looks", Just are not there!

See now the car in this pic isnt bad looking at all. Still I was expecting a much sexier car.. I dont mind it actually. Nothing close to the concept but not as bad as I thought comparing to the original pics released on CAR & DRIVER. We'll have to see the car in person when it hits the dealerships!

 

Very well said. The new Coupe lacks the cachet of the Gen I Coupe and the Concept. The Gen I was drop dead gorgeous in the photos and equally attractive in person. Why Infiniti/Nissan chose to go with a uncomely front end is beyond me. I am not sure what they were thinking when they decided to go with the drawing rather than the Concept. They had a for sure winner with the Concept as it has been universally praised for its style and design, both by consumers and by all the major periodicals. Guess we'll all have to wait for the Gen III to come out to rectify the mistakes of the Gen II.

 

Hands down the 07 Sedan Cosmetically is like night and day compared to old gen sedan. Not one thing was attractive to me w/ the old sedan generation. I never liked the old sedan. I actually like the 07 sedan now. Not a bad looking car..& the new Coupe I dont necessarily prefer either..haha

I think the car is a little to nice. It does'nt seem like something I would want to mod up.

 

The VQ37HR is superior the 3.2 e46 m3 engine IMO. That engine is great mid to top end but suffered down low. Not only that check out the advances in fuel economy of both engines. Not only that but they were not very reliable engines.

The VQ37HR will have an improved low end torque by 6% over the VQ35HR (which is already improved over the VQ35DE). Not only this but it will have a usable top-end power. In essence, the new engine will have great power all over and it will build greater the higher you rev and not let up. All this with improved fuel economy compared to the VQ35HR is quite amazing. This thing is going to be a great engine and I'm sure sound killer with dual intakes

 

I am sorry but it is not growing on me at ALL!!!! If the G37 looked at least 85% like the proto-type I would buy it. But it looks really boring and looks some what just like the sedan version. The front and rear looks just like the sedan. Nothing different or sporty to it. I am very disapointed now because I was ready to buy one. Now I am thinking otherwise. Plus don't you all think the body line is not a smooth like the G35?? For all you you G35 coupe owner, keep your ride because the G35 looks 10x's better than the G37.

 

get over yourself canada... i dropped by the dealership yesterday. the current gc is looking a bit dated these days. i owned a 2004 6mt.. very nice car.. hated the interior though. I dropped a deposit on a new g37. will see the car in person next week at the NY auto show.

 

Great post....NASHVILLE, we have a problem!!!! (Nissan/Infiniti's new US headquarters is Nashville, TN.) Infiniti has hit home runs with the original G35 Coupe and the M45/35. BIG mistake making the '08 Coupe so similar to the '07 Sedan. For some reason making the '07 Sedan into a Coupe turned it into a Lexus. I heard the rumor that Infiniti was thinking about making Lexus their target instead of BMW. I believe the rumor now. Also, the interiors of the Sedan and Coupe shouldn't be so similar anymore. Back when the original G35 Sedan and Coupe debuted, Nissan/Infiniti was in financial trouble and I could understand using the same interior to save $$$$. But after several years of good profits, Nissan/Infiniti should have spent more on differentiating the interiors. A Coupe should have a sportier interior than a Sedan. It should have a couple things the Sedan doesn't have. After all, they always seem to charge more for Coupes than Sedans. The '08 Coupe is a nice car and I wouldn't kick it out of my garage (LOL), but I wouldn't trade my '04 Coupe 6MT for it. I was hoping for a kick-@ss design for the '08 Coupe and I'm very disappointed and worried for Infiniti.

 

Agreed mostly. They need to make it as Coupe Concept-like as they possibly can before they start production. They also need to up the hp 20 to match/beat the 335 accelleration.
