2008 G Coupe to differ slightly from concept

http://www.leftlanenews.com/2006/09/...-from-concept/

Left Lane News

The 2007 Infiniti G35 (or is it G37?) Coupe will be nearly identical to the Infiniti Coupe Concept with one exception, says Nissan design director Shiro Nakamura. The nose of the car will be less pointed and the crease down the center of the front bumper will be eliminated or reworked, Nakamura told Ward's Auto. "People are talking about the point […] I think pointed is not our intention." He said Infiniti's designs are meant to be more rounded, and the final version of the car will reflect that. The 2007 G35 Sedan appears to have a less angular nose than the coupe concept.

Frankly, I like that pointed look better than the toned down production versions. At least it makes the car a little more different than the last G35. Maybe they are trying too hard to resemble the FX series suv.

I hope they make it more aggressive looking.
Can't think of a reason to get this over a 350Z

I agree with ya Carnut4ever I prefer the pointed look better than the toned down production versions! My buddy owns a 1st Generation G35 with the GPS great car. He's now looking at the 2007 model (G35) but if it's not aggresive looking he'll be buying a 2006/2007 350Z plus its cheaper he may even go with the roadster. Double Income No Kids!

They have to add "luxury" to justify the price, what do you expect?

Point or no point … still one of the best looking cars on the road. With performance to boot. The 350Z caters to the unsexy.

Hal, the reason is that it's more practical with a back seat. I have an '06 G35 coupe and could never see myself getting a Z for that reason.

Keep the crease! Make the '07 G35 look just like that and not only will they keep me as a customer but a lot more people.

no matter how they change the crease it will still look amazing. Now does this mean that those sweet cameras-for-mirrors will make it into production and those headlights? I would never think they would but he said only one change..

Just read about this in Motor Trend, and I must say I'm impressed and I want one.

I think it looks great, and I'm glad they are sticking to the concept's styling. I hope they use the concept's interior too. Not sure if that glass roof will make it to production though.

I owned an '03 G35 Coupe, and I think it was the best looking car for the money. I had a lot of transmission problems (6MT), and a lot of squeeks and rattles, but if they fix those quality/design issues, I might consider getting one of these new ones again. I seldom buy a car on looks alone, but this one looks so good it is tempting.

I say keep the exterior as it is! The overall impression is that it looks like a "japanese exotic" (without the exorbitant $$$$$ tag of course..... )

If anything, the only thing that should change is the STAR TREK seats. Otherwise, the coupe is perfect.

I hate it when they change the concept design. Everyone falls in love with it, then they go and change it. Very silly.

From: Metropolitan South Farmington, not too far from the supercity we all know as Wilmot, NS
Announced release is as an 08, in spring of 07 rather than late summer.

Wrong

I think this announcement is inaccurate.

So, your telling me, i'm going to have 'video cameras' for rear view?
Yea right.

Panaramic roof?
That should only add an extra 500lbs!
Sure, that'll happen.

- NOT -

I think the exact opposite will happen.
I think the car will retain it's exterior shape almost exactly.
I think the following will change:
20" wheels will not be standard
No rear view cameras
No panaramic roof (sun roof instead)
Head lamps may look ever so slightly different

I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up having 20" wheels. The rest I totally agree with though.

I think you just *may* see the roof.
If they can keep the weight down with moden materials.

*IF* it was heavier, it would def be an issue.
Not just for the added weight, but also the location.
Roof is the absolute worst place to add weight for chasis dynamics.
