Unhappy 2009 g37 convertible radio

I recently bought a 2009 G37 convertible and have noticed that the speakers sound horrible. It has Bluetooth, but only for calls. I have tried using an FM Bluetooth transmitter, and currently, I use an aux cable connected with an RCA Y-Adapter to Aux, which then connects to an Aux to Lightning adapter, and finally to my phone (I have made sure 'reduce loud sounds' in the settings is not enabled). I have attempted to change out the radio, but it has been recommended not to do so. I've also tried using CDs. Additionally, I have checked the fuse, but it is perfectly fine. I have experimented with all the audio settings, such as adjusting the sound balance between front and back, left and right, and even tried the surround sound feature, However, regardless of what I use, the speakers consistently produce muffled sound with little to no bass in the car. Also speaking of the speakers, I am pretty sure the side speakers on the doors and the headrest do not work.

If I had to brainstorm ideas of what could be wrong:
  • There is nothing wrong; the speakers are just bad.
  • The speakers are blown out.
  • There is an issue with the amp.
If you have anything you would like to add or think could be of help, please let me know!

To me, that sounds like blown speakers. The system isn't the loudest so the previous owner might have had it on full blast all the time or something to blow them.

Read through this thread as it has instructions on how to perform the "Speaker Connection Test."

Even if the speakers were "blown" you should get some type of "noise" from them. If there is no sound at all, especially from the headrests, then there is something else going on. The headrest speakers are not very loud to begin with.

That said, I am guessing the amp is the issue. For whatever reason, the Bose amps in these 'Verts have been problematic to say the least. There have been quite a few members here who have had to replace them for all sorts of failures.

Run the speaker test then go from there. IMPORTANT: upon completion of the test, just TURN THE CAR OFF or REPEATED PRESS BACK to EXIT! DO NOT PRESS THE "RESET" OPTION ON THE MENU.
