After poking around for a couple days I couldn’t find a thread indicating how to get the hard plastic seat back off the front seats in our 2010 Vert. The schematics others have posted indicate a pair of metal clips about a quarter of the way in on each side about 3-4” down from the top. Squeezing fingers in from the top and I can feel the flat top of what feels like maybe a 1.5” wide plastic hook molded into the seat back. But that’s speculation from feel alone.
is there a trick to getting these things off the seat back so I can put seat covers on? I’ve pushed on them from the back and whacked the bottom of the plastic with the heel of my hand until it’s become sore. No movement. The other thread with the screen shot of instructions is helpful but the instructions aren’t very specific about technique.

thanks for any help
I had to give my ***** a tug and man up with a little stouter pull at the top to get it down. Of course the covers aren’t for vert seats. So telling owner (sister) to return them.
To be concluded at a later date.
If you are talking about the black piece behind the driver and passenger, you just pull it towards the back seat. I had to replace the drivers side before.
The real panels are held in place using metal clips. These clips are known to rust and "seize" in place which makes removing the panel ever more difficult. With enough force they will release, however, be advised that many have ended up cracking the panel/ mounts as the clips are just too stubborn.
is there a correct way to remove it without breaking it for example like the side of the panel, the bottom panel or the top of the panel
You just pull on them. A slight rocking motion might help to unseat the clips. You can try wedging a clip removal tool in there but not sure if that will help.
The seat back hooks in over a slight ledge at the bottom and is "designed" to seat itself with the two clips at the top.
I broke the two plastic clips at the top of the driver's seat in an attempt to remove it to clean the filter. I wasn't sure at the time what I'd done (the clip area didn't look broken, but it wouldn't stay closed) so I took it to the dealer. I was told you can't just buy the clips, you must buy the whole seat back, about $900, of which their search found four across the whole U.S.
Somebody back in maintenance took pity on me and used a strong plastic wire bundling clip to close up the seat again.
You can probably guess I won't be opening the seat back again to try to clean the filter.
I remember years ago helping a former forum member source those metal clips. Yes, they can be ordered. P/N: 87648-AM300
While I understand your reticence to removing the panel again to service the filter, keep in mind that these fan motors can be potentially problematic in that the wiring can get overheated and melt at the connector. While the filter may not be a direct causation it is still a maintenance item none the less.
I wonder why Nissan made these damn filters so user-NOT friendly to access and service. Like the cabin filter and having to remove the bloody glove bin.
