I just purchased a 2011 Sport. When it was delivered to my house and I went to put the top down, the parcel shelf got stuck because it wasn't bolted on correctly- the PS fell off. So because it was 95 and freaking humid, I didn't think to take photos and just unscrewed everything on the shelf to be able to get it out to close open and close the top. I have since fixed the issue it and it works fine, but it is loose. Also, I think I missed some attachment points aside from the three nuts on each side. Tonight when I went to put the top down, I had to pull the shelf towards the rear seat because it was loose to allow the top to clear it.
I know there was something attached to it toward a piece that looks like a lever arm on both sides, but I don't remember what it was and how it was attached (maybe the string for the headliner or something?). If anyone has any pictures of theirs in the vertical position so I can see what I missed, please share. Thanks, Jeremy
Thank you for attaching this. Unfortunately, it's not the part I'm mentioning. It's on the Plastic shelf itself. Unless I can't read the diagram . Here's a picture of what I'm looking at. Is it supposed to move in some way or just crank it down tight. I put it down tight on both sides. I appreciate the help!
Are you referring to the rubber bumper stop? That does not move. There are only three (3) bolts per sde that attach the plastic parcel shelf to the parcel frame/ motor assembly.
I just did a quick check of eBay (search "G37 parcel shelf") and there are a few good pictures on some of those listings which might help you.
I have the 3 bolts on each side tight. it just seems like the shelf doesn't stay vertical at 90, maybe 80-85 degree slant when coming up. The bumper is in the same spot as the Ebay stuff. When the top is up, is the shelf supposed to stay vertical or fall flat in the trunk? mine falls flat in the trunk.
Thanks- Maybe I'm tired, but all I'm getting is how the motor works. my top goes up and down fine and the shelf appears to be fine, but if its only those three bolts, then I guess it's working how its supposed to. Maybe I'm paranoid on the shelf slant and having fear from reading all about convertible issues that I'm freaking myself out every time I open and close it- freaking out that this is the time it's going to break... Maybe I need to stop reading the posts about it breaking
...When the top is up, is the shelf supposed to stay vertical or fall flat in the trunk? mine falls flat in the trunk.
As the roof folds to close, the parcel shelf flips up to vertical and draws down. Once the roof completely closes, the shelf will fold into the bottom of the trunk before the deck lid closes.
Lol, I know what you mean! I call it "Roof anxiety", and I feel it every time I push the roof button. Especially when I'm away from home.
It does look as if there are 3 connection points on each side. Tomorrow perhaps I or someone else can take some pics that might be helpful.
Additional pics will help if you have concerns. Always ask. That is why this forum is here.
This roof is a very complex, complicated, and over-engineered symphony (thanks, Germany) that, for the most part, is surprisingly reliable. Most roof issues- that have been reported here at least- have been very minor with the exception of the flapper gears. Cross that bridge when/ if you ever need to.

Hi,
My question is whether I can remove the parcel shelf and defeat the sensors to be able to use the convertible top without it?
My Infiniti dealer has tried to fix my parcel shelf and finisher twice. The first time they said the parcel shelf and finisher had to be replaced for $7,000. US for the parts alone.. After 2 years, I sourced parts from a front-end crash wreck. Parts were like new. Dealer undertook to install for $1,400 US, with no warranty, but now says these parts have the same problem. I am pretty sure they don't know what they're doing, but can't afford to keep going.
Thanks for any advice you can offer.

I created a Youtube playlist from TopHydraulics. The videos show a variety of things, including how to open and close the top manually. Watching the videos may help see how the parcel shelf works
I have a 2009 and recently the parcel shelf was bumped off the brackets while putting the top down. After a brief freak-out I pulled the parcel shelf out of the car and the top is operating fine without it. Obviously I want to get it put back in as it looks janky without it but mine is proof that the top should operate without the parcel shelf.
