Replacing Parcel Shelf Subwoofer

I see a lot of posts here where people have successfully added subs via an enclosure in the trunk. However, has anyone instead gone the IB route, replacing the stock Bose sub in the parcel shelf with a quality open-air IB 10"? Seems like a very good option for someone who wants to maximize trunk space and save cash, since an enclosure will not be needed.

By the way, the rear parcel shelf sub that comes with the 2009 Sedan w/ Premium - is it 10" or 6"x9"? I've seen some conflicting info, but I may be confusing 2008 and 2009 models.

TIA.
