Q60 / G37 Convertible Purchasing Advice Needed
Spent two nights down in ILM. Gotta say it’s changed since I last visited about 10 yrs ago. Our normal getaway is to the outer banks.
You’re right @ILM-NC G37S ! People drive like crazy out there. Between the retirees, the Jacksonville marine crowd and the ECU/UNCW students. It’s a diverse group of people all over the place.
Wrightsville beach is just nuts! Got there around 10:30 am. On Saturday. Walked to the beach and everyone was sitting up against the sand berm in a single row. No beach left until the tide receded about 2 hours later. Then it was 5-6 rows deep of people and every bit of the beach was claimed. Reminded me if the jersey shore back when I lived there with my wife.
Other than that, spent some good money down on front street area. Fun weekend. The Q60 vert did great and was thoroughly enjoyable. 👍

Well, you had excellent weather for your "top down" trip that is for sure! I am glad you made the best of it.
For me, this place lost its luster decades ago. If I could afford it I would move back to NY but, that is neither here nor there at this point.
Now it is back to the daily grind...

The "oil gallery" is a series of passageways cast into various areas of the engine by which pressurised oil travels to lubricate the engine. For these cars, Nissan initially used a paper/ cardboard-type gasket that was known to become brittle and break thus causing low oil pressures. It was also speculated that the bolts securing the oil gallery plates to the block were improperly torqued which led to the gaskets "blowing out." Either way, it is/ was a costly repair due to the amount of time/ labor involved. It was not until ≈2011 or so did Nissan "quietly" address the issue and switch to a metal gasket, however, there have been some reports of 2012 and fewer 2013 engines being affected.
Keep in mind, this issue does not affect EVERY VQ engine on the road and it is highly safe to say that the 2014 Q60 'Vert you are considering will be free from this issue.
