Best Infiniti scanner and where to buy it

What is the best scan tool for Infiniti vehicles?

I think consult 3 plus might be the best scanner for these cars and I’m thinking about buying one. Some of the websites I see have it look a bit fake and it discourages me from purchasing it. I need to scan for codes on my 2011 g37 convertible because I have problems with the hard top.

I would like to know if anyone knows a good site or someone selling a scanner like consult 3 plus which is what I’m mainly interested in as of right now.

Thanks in advance!

(I’m new and this is my first post, still getting the hang of everything)

This unit is known andproven to work well with these cars- especially the 'Vert: CNAutoTool. It is technically a Chinese cloned version, but it works.

You may want to send a private message to member @n559br as he had one for sale when he sold his 'Vert. I do not know if he sold it or still has it. Keep in mind he hasn't been active since August so if he doesn't answer promptly he may have moved on.

If you haven't already, download a FULL COPY of the Factory Service Manual for your 'Vert from NicoClub and familiarize yourself with the roof orchestra while you are waiting for the tool.

Welcome to the site.

Thanks for the reply, that’s the exact website I was a bit worried about, it’s good to hear it is trusted by a member here, I have contacted the other member you mentioned just to see if he still has it. If I do not get a response or better options I might try buying that one.

Since I am also looking to buy something to reset my hard top, and it’s is risen in cost so much, plus unavailable, has anyone used anything else? Maybe Consult 4? https://m.cnautotool.com/goods-309-N...d+Renault.html

I went ahead and purchased this one on cnautotools https://m.cnautotool.com/goods-1610-...ogramming.html
the company told me they did not have it available so they are only able to send an older version. Whenever I get it I’ll let you know if it’s able to reset the top and do all of that. I don’t know what might be the difference between the one you linked @Sir Launcelot and the one i just linked tho.

Did this scan tool work for you? I noticed it's out of stock now as well. I'd like to get a good scan tool to keep on hand just not sure what and where to buy.

Great recommendations on scanners! Having the right tool is crucial when working with the G37. For anyone dealing with lots of repair reports or documents, I’d definitely recommen https://comfax.com/fax-near-me/ fax near me. It’s an app that lets you send faxes and documents directly from your phone—no need for a fax machine. It’s perfect for quickly sharing maintenance logs or other important paperwork without the hassle of traditional methods
thanks for the information!

I had a difficult time with my 2011 G37 top recently. Had to rebuild the flapper gearboxes and had some travel issues with the parcel shelf. The scanner I wound up buying is the Thinkscan 689BT from a company called Thinkcar. It's on Amazon for about 500 bucks and I can't say enough good things about it. It made the troubleshooting/relearn process a breeze. It really saved my bacon. It's simple, easy to understand and did everything I needed it to do.

One of my customers Innova has a nice line of Bidirectional scan tools that are similar: https://a.co/d/0e2WG7Wu

I am still on the fence with buying one of these devices. I know I need to get something more "advanced," or technical, as I'm growing frustrated with OBDFusion but I do wonder how comprehensive are these devices? These can't really be "dealer level" diagnostic tools can they? Or are these just glamorized code readers that can "do a little more?"

For example, in the case of Nissan, the CONSULT software is easy to get but the hardware (VCI) isn't. With BMW, the software (be it EDIABAS, INPA, ISTA) is nearly impossible and BMW proactively makes it difficult for consumers to obtain and use same. Workarounds and hacks exist, yes, but... I just do not see how these bi-directional devices, and others, are able to include software from practically every car manufacturer. Maybe I'm missing something...

And, as I mentioned before, with everything going subscription-based there has to be some limitations somewhere. Free updates only go but so far...

I believe that the Innova readers access an online DB of common problems, but to be honest, we can all do that sort of research online (need to apply some common sense filtering). Not sure on the readers outside of spitting out codes.
