2010 g37 convertible passenger occupancy, need seat advice
Hello! My wife has had a beautiful 2010 silver g37 convertible for 5 years, and we finally got the dreaded B1018 code and the Passenger Air Bag Off light being constantly on.
We only have a Nissan (not Infiniti) dealer in our town, but they of course are suggesting the bottom seat replacement for well over 6k.
Before going the way of the airbag360 emulator, I was going to try to find a seat bottom on eBay or somewhere, but I have run into a question - is the convertible seat (bottom, particularly) different than the non-convertible seat?
Thanks, I've enjoyed lurking on here for some time.

Never mind, a salvage yard on eBay just told me that the seats are very different and the convertible of course is much more expensive.
I'm leaning toward the emulator at this point, but another thread on this forum said that the seat belt light would stay on if I got the emulator to override the passenger occupancy sensor. I'm assuming the seat belt light can be disabled but have not found info yet as to how to do that. Any ideas as to how to do that?

more often than not, this code appears when there is a bad connection. try the following.
remove the + and - on battery. wait atleast 5 mins before doing any work.
remove the pass seat. find the SRS connector, and disconnect it.
take needle nose pliers and twist the male ends of the connector gently a little bit. they will be parallel initially, but make them a little skewed.
then force the connection back into the connector. this will provide a better connection and more often than not, fixes that code.
worth a try.

Passenger seat airbag malfunction
Since this seems a to be common problem, i think it's time for someone to start a class action suit against Infinity -- or demand a recall! My G37 has the same problem the Dealer quoted $8,000 to fix it.

You aren't going to get far with a class action where a 10 year old car has a connection problem, and they are replacing the whole system out of an abundance of caution (because SRS) regardless of cost. Even if it's just because the SKU is for a higher assembly than just the weight sensor.
@tnthudson might be worth taking the seat apart (not too hard once out of the car) and look at the weight sensor. The seat bottom might be different, but the weight sensor is not likely to be that different in a normal coupe - and that might be a junkyard trip instead of a stupidly expensive repair.

My occupancy sensor kept was not registering people sitting in the seat. So I bought the emulator and installed it. No issues.

So emulator means passenger SRS constant on? (IE like all cars with airbags pre-weight sensors)
Sounds like a win to me. Weight sensor is there to make sure airbag doesn't go off if you have a small child in the seat (which in the US isn't likely legal anyway, for a given value of small child).
