Heavy trunk lid

Does anyone know of an automatic trunk lift/close kit? Not only is my trunk incredibly heavy but sometimes it slams down on me. Very frustrating.

You may need to replace the struts that support the trunk lid

Ahhh-yes, you're probably right. I'd never even thought of that. Thank you so much!

I replaced my struts a few months ago. It was simple. I went almost a year with a heavy trunk lid. I replaced the struts in the front too. Much better.

Why, yes. Yes it is. Do you wish you drove a Fjord instead of an Infiniti?

I think I am going to try these in the near future. Much cheaper less expensive than OEM.

Can you tell me where you purchased the struts?
I've looked at several online sites and so far I've only found "trunk lift cylinders" for the coupe and none specified for the 'vert.

Go to post #7 and use that link to find the 'vert part number.

One can learn a lot by reading the coupe and sedan forums.

Wondering if my rear struts are worn out on my Q40. I recently bought it used. When I hit the trunk release the trunk pops up a little but just barely enough to get my hand in there to open it. Is that the normal function or should the trunk be popping open more than an inch or two?

Nope, just an inch or so.

Ba-zinga!

Actually, I decided to call my local Infiniti dealer about the struts and maybe verify the part number. I'm glad I called because to my surprise my extended warranty hadn't expired like I thought. The warranty is going to cover this - YAY! I'm bringing the car in tomorrow to get them replaced.
