New purchase: 2011 vert (graphite shadow)

After months of lurking this site and mulling over an Infiniti G37 convertible, I finally pulled the trigger and picked up a 2011 graphite shadow. I have a question though: My buddy has the 2013 G sedan also in graphite shadow, but his car seems a lot darker than mine. Was there a color change but still called "graphite shadow"?

These past 2 days have been awesome just cruising around NOLA (despite the crappy roads)!!!! It has the Nav, Premium, Interiors and Tires packages...I finally drove it this morning for the first time with a roof over my head!!! ha ha

Any pointers on the car are always appreciated...

Justin

Welcome to the family! I see you have the wind deflector, which really tames the turbulence. I just picked up a set Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 and the /traction/handling/road holding were improved considerably (and these can be driven in cold NJ). The Michelins are highly recommended and slightly wider than stock (245/40 19 F, 275/35 10 R). I have the sport package and the sport package's brakes are exceptional and the steering is quicker than stock. Sport ride is a bit firmer and bouncier though.

Congratulations! I have the 2012 model in graphite shadow. In your picture your color looks the same as mine. Hard to judge as digital pictures can vary. I hope you enjoy the car as much as I have. Did you get the manual or automatic transmission?

I got the 7-speed automatic. I have yet to switch it over to DS mode...I am kinda waiting for some little punk to pull up to me at a light. That way, when I am laughing at how quick the vert's acceleration is, the punk will think I am laughing at him. ha ha

I'll have to take a pic of my buddy's G37 sedan to show you all how much darker grey it is.

I was looking online into those Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3's, but I don't think they are made for my 19's...

I get soooooo many looks when I use the convertible. Most are good, but I get the stink eye from some guys who are out with their girls....hee hee hee

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 are available in slightly wider sizes to fit the 19 inch wheels. I have the 19 inch wheels on the sports package and I ordered these tires:

245/40ZR19 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 Front
275/35ZR19 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 Back

They fit nicely on the stock wheels and provide additional grip over the stock width.

Hah!. Get used to the comments from other people when the top is down. I've gotten the "great car" comment at the gas station, the drive up window, the bank, etc.

I second zdubin's recommendation about the Michelin Pilot AS3. I have had the Pilot AS tires on my previous 2 cars and they are terrific tires. I plan to switch to these as soon as the original Infiniti Bridgestone tires wear out.

I do not have this "pu$$y machine" option in my car. Can I pay extra and put it in?

HAW! Sorry bro - you have a coupe. This option is only available on a vert.

When the top goes down, the pants come off!

I have had my 2011 Graphite Shadow Sport with a 6 speed for almost 3 years now. It has 26,000 miles and has been almost perfect. I still look forward to getting in it every day. Congrats, you will love it!

I figured out the color difference issue. His sedan isn't graphite shadow but blue slate. My buddy was more surprised than me that he didn't know his own car's color.

And I didn't even know that my dealer threw in the P-Machine Option for free...but almost every girl out there seems to know that my car's got it...ha ha ha

Graphite verts!

Hey JB..nice choice. I made the same choice in car and color.
Wife and I bought a used 2010 vert in Sep13. Like yours it is Graphite Shadow with the Graphite (almost black) interior. We got the wood too (she liked that more than the silver metal.
IMO I think this is one of the BEST color combos...as the dark interior looks like new longer than lighter ones and the dark gray exterior is a bit more interesting than Black (my usual first choice).
Other responders also have the same color car on this thread...nice, they all look great.
