Fueling issue

Hi everyone,

It seems lately that when we go to fuel up the vert that about 10 seconds after we start fueling it vapor locks and stops the fuel pump. It does this throughout filling the tank even if the tank is empty. Has anyone had this issue and is there something I need to have repaired?

I know the back prressure is supposed to stop the gas pump...but it shouuld not be happening even with an empty tank. This issue has happened at several different gas staions so i am pretty confident it is not just the pump.

Yes its a problem when it happens I manually press the pump trigger down halfway and it continues without a problem. It juat takes a really long time to fill up.

I had the same problem. The car had been sitting in the sun but that may or may not have been the issue. Next time I filled my car, I did not have an issue.

Had this problem on other cars too. I heard it has to do with the gas pump and the pressure it uses to pump gas into your tank. If it comes out too fast, it backs up and stops the nozzle. I always use shell premium, but on a trip I went to BP, and I had the problem you describe. Never had it at shell. Wonder what google says......

Search the forum it's a well documented issue.

Stop fuelling, pull the nozzle out and wait a few seconds and try again.

Thanks...so I guess I will be calling the dealer to have the valve replaced between the tank and the fill tube.

I noticed this problem too when I first got the vert. Only happens at other brands' pumps, Shell is the only one that I do not have such a problem, except that sometimes the damn pump jumps out of the fuel hole when it is done filling up if I don't hold on to the pump.

I've got a Coupe and have the issue at a couple of BP stations. (I live in Jersey, so we dont pump our own gas). I usually just get out of the car, and if you turn the nozzle upside down, and hold it, that works.
