Seat Belt Loop Fail
Seat Belt Loop Fail
Hi,
The loops attached to the seat to control the seatbelt have failed - basically the platic and leather around the clasp have ripped, see the pictures
Has anyone else had the same problem in which case what has been done to repair it?
I asked infiniti to fix under warranty but they say it was due to excess force - this is really don't agree with as the failure has happened around the metal ring around the clasp. Finally i wouldn't "Force" excessively to pull a leather strap on a car i worked so hard to buy!
Any ideas on a repair and has anyone else experienced this?

Bummer!
I havent seen or heard of that before but, that should be an easy fix for an auto upholstry shop, convertible repair shop or perhaps even a shoe repair shop to correct.
Good luck!

I only have one snap which makes me think with one it can rotate and move with the movement of the belt. With two snaps its stuck in one spot. Is the angle of the belt in the loop a sharp angle, putting stress and strain on the snap and loop itself? I used to think the two snap set up was better for helping the belt retract, but not now.
I have this same problem on my 12G vert. Service advisor says they will fix but I was waiting till oil change. He is gone from dealership so who knows if they will honor his commitment. Mine failed as you described. i was opening the loop in usual fashion and it ripped.
It's a very lame setup, they should have gone with a plastic loop the the belt could be slid in and out of. The Volvo C70 has a much slicker setup.
A car upholstery place should be able to repair this easily. Ask your dealer for the person they use. I doubt this would be very expensive to fix.
