This is a safety issue

I had the same issue with my seatbelt not retracting and you can tell the dealer that if you get in a accident and the seatbelt fails, they will be looking at a huge lawsuit. The much cheaper options is for the dealer to replace anything that has to do with the seatbelt before you get in that accident. The dealer I took it to replaced everything without questions and told me that seatbelt is a safety issue and should be replaced anywhere.

Hope that helps.

fyi:the convertible's seat belts have no safety issue- just don't retract fully post unbuckling... they just hang which allows the buckle to hang, can get caught between seat side and door panels which dents the door panels...
otherwise they work fine when buckled up.

So I'm getting mine replaced i.e. the seatbelt mechanism and full door panels on both sides. Parts have been ordered.

The replacement seat belt retractors/tensioners makes a big difference, belt buckle goes up all the way out of the way, I had mine replaced today.

I had my door panels & belts replaced last week. My service adevisor noticed them and called ahead to have the reapirs authorized under warranty. It only took a day to receive the parts.

I'll post up part #s from my service report when I get home...

sorry for the late reply - I totally forgot.

Anyway, here are the part #s from my service receipt:
Driver's side:
BELT ASSY-TONGUE, PR-86885-JJ63B
FINISHER ASSY-FRONT-80901-JJ51B

Passenger side:
BELT ASSY-TONGUE, PR-86884-JJ63B
FINISHER ASSY-FRONT-D-80900-JJ70B

and they noted the following on the bottom of the service invoice:
"**NOTE SEAT BELTS MUST BE INSIDE LOOPHOLES ON FRONT SEATS IN ORDER TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO DOOR PANELS"

I had only following parts installed with modified side finishers per ITB11-012 with no note or warning and I use seat belt cushion going thru the seat loop. Works great.

If your lower door panels are damaged, mention it and they will replace them.
I did not get the handles removed but I will ask about it as it's a little scratched up.
