Lets see. On my SLK it works like this.

One tap of the inside button will raise or lower the top. You don't have to hold it.
Two taps of the button raises the windows or lowers them (all 4).
Triple tap of key fob (unlock or lock) will raise or lower the top. You dont' have to hold it.
Single tap of key fob will stop the current operation.

I typically hit the button inside the car as i am pulling into my parking spot and get out and walk away while the top continues raising. Then when heading to the car i hit the key fob when close enough to start the top lowering. Its usually about finished when i am pulling out of my spot.

And most importantly, i have saved my interior more than once by being able to slow down and put the top up without stopping in a rain storm. Before i got the smart top, i got drenched at least once....with it i only get a little wet before the top is done.

Thanks for the reply. That sounds really cool!
The only part I don't agree with is the up/down while moving. I have read some horror stories on the Benz boards about lowering or raising while driving. It only makes sense that if you hit a pot hole or something the tracks/lines/whatever will go out of line. I am guessing that is why Infiniti does not allow their cars tops to move while in motion. I'll bet they would refuse warranty work if this happened and you were caught with a Smart Top set-up.

Everything else sounds real cool though. I WILL have it for cruising weather.

I wouldn't think so. They have been doing these for a few years with LOTS of satisfied Porsche and MB customers.

To be honest they seemed kind of Mickey Mouse. And they weren't really offering anything. Two touch in the car VS full hold in the car, was really no big deal in my opinion and certainly not worth paying for.

Mods for Cars has been doing this for several years, so they have a track record of doing exactly this.

Yeah. I expect there is a big difference between what the Mods4Cars guys do and what we have seen kptech. The Mods4Cars guys seem to be pro CANbus hackers (the network used in a lot of cars) where the kptech guys seem to just be creating some simple circuits to maintain current after you hit the button.

Doing this right involves intercepting the messages on the CAN to take over control of the top operation while giving the cars internal computer the correct responses to prevent errors etc. Not an easy task but after doing a dozen different makes and models i expect these guys have a solid understanding of how to do it right.

My G37 vert got the very first ONE TOUCH CONVERTIBLE TOP MODULE. I use it all the time. Works great every time.

YouTube - OneTouchG37VertModule.avi

My vert also has the NAVIGATION INTERFACE MODULE installed. I don't use it as much but I do use it and like it.

On another note for some reason my car went into Fail Safe mode 3/8/10. Dealer fixed it no charge...noticed the two mods and said they did not affect the warranty except on the spliced harness. Several of the technicians (auto mechanics) showed a lot of interest in them. My Service writer is very accommodating both front seat belts have been replaced with 2010 parts and all upholstery repaired. Contrary to some reports the new belts and hardware have made a big improvement in the way the belts retract. I'm happy with my car and dealer!

I have both the KPT modules - they are OK but had few bugs initially but seem to work fine now.

That's good that you have seat belt issues resolved. I have 2009 and I haven't had any of these issues so I didn't have to replace any of the original 2009 components at all. If need be I am sure my dealer will do the same.

It looks really nice... Do you know if the car is on or off when using the remote? If it's off, I'm sold. Even though I bought the KPT module, I would really like to use the key fob and be able to put the top up down while driving.

Some more info this morning. And the roof will drop with the engine off. That is the whole point. On a hot day, as you are walking to the car, you can drop the top.

Here is the link to the manual:

and the link to the installation manual:

We don't have a release date yet, but we hope to have the first units in stock in March 2011.

Best Regards, Sven Tornow
