Hard top Convertible, and AWD Copue

Just back from teh dealership today, Looking at the new G37, and the internet sales manager told me to stay tuned, becuase a new G37 Hardtop was schedulued to be released in Spring, and around the same time... an AWD Coupe.

I am very excited about the Hard top conv. The Sales manager explained to me that the whole top and car (current G37, partially why it weighs so much now) was ready for the convertible feature, Inifniti just wanted to perfect the actuators and top-retract speed before releasing anything.

Hopefully this will come true and these will both be available in the spring, when i can perhaps afford to upgrade.

Normally everyone on here would call BS since you heard it from the dealer and the flame would ensue. however, the 335 coupe is main competitor and it has the awd and convertible variants, so this may hold true.

Jeez if this thing is a pig now wait till they add awd to the mix... :-(

This is what has me undecided at this point.
I was going to order for spring delivery, but if AWD is going to be available soon, I think I'm going to wait until I can order AWD!

If they do come out with and AWD, I want the whole enchilada. That includes a sport version AWD with unique front fascia, side sills, and paddle shifters. A 6MT and AWD would be nice...but I think we know that won't happen.

A retractable hardtop convertible and/or AWD would be way cool, though it would probably push the weight of the car to over 4000 lbs, and AWD probably wouldn't be available with a 6 speed manual.

I also wonder if Nissan would really spend the money to do this. If Carlos Ghosn won't even invest in making seats for the U.S. market that fit fat bottomed Americans (and we get the same seats used in Japan for a skinnier population), would he really invest the tens if not hundreds of millions of dollars to engineer a retractable hardtop or AWD?

If this is true I might end up picking that up for everyday driving and turning my current coupe into a full track/show car.

If they come out with a Sport AWD option and with the AWD option add 20 HP (or boost torque in the lower RPM range) that would sell huge.

I had registered interest in the convertible a month ago with my dealer.

On Tuesday they called to tell me that, following a few weeks of rumors that release would be in February 2008, this week Nissan North America told dealers that launch will be in 2010 model year so mid-2009 calendar.

Now that makes sense. I would imagine that there will be a slight bump in power at that time to compensate for the extra weight as well.
