Inside Line - 2013 Infiniti JX Spied
Edmunds - Inside Line
Back in April Infiniti showed a sketch of the upcoming, 2013 Infiniti JX, seven-seat crossover vehicle that will go on sale in the Spring of 2012.
And while we still don't have any engine specs on the Murano / Altima / Maxima platformed vehicle, we do, finally, have spy shots. But based on the platform mates, we can safely assume a 2.5, a 3.5 and some hybrid variants and a CVT. Figure JX25 and JX35 with S or H after it.
The JX is inspired by the Infiniti Essence concept which was shown at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show and the official concept will be shown at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours. We'll see the production version at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show.

Infiniti should focus on sport luxury coupes and sedan IMO like the G and M lineup, not keep producing SUV/Sport Activity vehicles like the EX/FX/QX and now JX. When the JX is released more than half of the Infiniti lineup will be 7 seating SUV type cars...
Come to think of it the SUV type cars will be double the sport/lux lineup.
You have the G sedan/coupe, M sedan vs the EX/FX/QX/JX. Wow what is happening! I know SUV's and mini SUV type vehicles sell pretty well in he U.S. but this is crazy
I would really love to see a M37/M56 Coupe, or everyone's favorite a G56 of course
Maybe even a hatchback 4 door coupe-style type M like the A7...
I feel like BMW sort of started going downhill when they released the X3 X5 X6 and the M versions of those, but at least BMW has the 1/3/5/6/7 series to balance out their SUV lineup

Yeah, it's more in line with the Acura MDX like I fugured.
Car companies are for profit businesses. They build what people will buy. Until people will $55,000 for an Infiniti G56 it's not going to be built. People will pay for an Infiniti crossover so they're building those.
You forgot to add that it's also a vehicle that Infiniti will sell a lot of at a healthy margin.

Yes, Nissan has said they could produce the G56 at anytime (when answering IPL questions) but they would lose money and inferred that most likely no one but hardcore Infiniti lovers would really cross shop it with the M3

It's a business, and if you look at the numbers, SUVs and the like are very profitable. Many people are family minded and not willing to sacrifice practicality for something like the G, no matter how great of a car it is. If I have kids, I would keep the G, but I certainly would need another car. I'm not going to let those little snot bags touch the leather hahaha!
I'm stilling waiting on the G56 SC TT coupe with 800 hp......

I am not so sure that this car would NOT sell well. I mean, look at 335i vs M3. The m3 is now outclassed by the 335 and some simple mods. People dont buy many m3's but it's still there. The m6 was produced and went away but it was 100k+. If the g56 was produced, there would be enough ppl that would buy it to justify it.
However, I think the best bet for Infinity is to offer TT for the G37. It will be still fairly fuel efficient and the price will not be that much higher than the IPL. Maybe they can get GTM to help them design it : )
But in all seriousness, this car would easily put out over 400hp with minimal boost AND would have the modability just by increasing boost liek the 335i with the JB4. This automatically broadens its appeal from the regular joe who just wants a fast car all teh way to to the enthusiast who wants to mod it, THAT's the key to good sales.
As it is, infiniti already has a better interior and tech package than the BMWs, better reliability etc. All it needs is to outclass them in engine department.
