The new IPL G37S
^ i agree as well, like the corolla s... Infiniti did it right for their targeted consumer. But changing a body kit or ground effects does nothing to the factory warranty. But I 100% understand.
You're right that body kits and ground effects don't alter your warranty but these come with a full factory warranty and OEM fit.
This and other "discounting reasons" are exactly why I decided to make the move. I wonder if there are any others out there?
Yes, you read that correctly. I was looking at $1500 in front paint work (because the 08 paint wasnt as good as 09 or 10 and it chipped/faded and was not covered by warranty), the tranny and flywheel are louder, and it didn't have any of the good "bits".
Is it worth it? Yes. Flame on all y'all want but as stated in previous posts, I'm a highly seasoned engineer and this car is sweet compared to an 08 (and slightly sweeter compared to a 9 or 10). I'm sure there are no words to help you all justify nor prove that my decision was objective. You'll just have to trust me -- it really is that gorgeous and the "lines" are intact. I suggest you all drive one or drive mine if we get together at an event in the Southeast. C/D even said it's "the tip of the spear".
I should state, however, that I'm connected to NNA so my VPP helped the decision immensely. (Plus I own a few thousand shares of stock so I'm being honest with my existing bias
)There's one thing I need to make clear: this paint is like something you'd see at a car show or on one of Chip Foose' or Jay Leno's cars. It's stunning. The car is BLACK.... very black.... until the sun hits it just right then it's a deep, sexy pearlescent midnight sparkling purple; not like any purple I've ever seen except in a lab or pictures from Hubble. Women all go "ohhhhhhhh mahhhhhh GAWD!"

not bad for a guess but an untrue generalization. I have plenty of scars from modding, just wanted to start with more...
^ congrats.. did you buy it from oregon? beaverton's is sold to an out of state buyer... wait nm they have the silver one......... i hope you enjoy your car man. And glad to see someone who mods their car is buying one, it's a great platform for your future project. Who cares if me and others don't agree, it's your monies, and your happiness. I wish you the best.
One thing I won't do is forced induction -- I don't have any backup (yet). But I can tell already that a full Stage 3 CAI will take this car to an incredible level.
I can honestly say if I had an 09 or 10, I probably would not have gotten this but it's a real daisy from the 08 (which I adore, still).
It'll get the Stillen 3rd gen full CAI, some UR pulleys, and I MIGHT work some headers and test pipes in there but not sure yet (have those on the 92 SE-R). It all depends on noise. (I need to search on noise with those mods). No smog checks in the South -- we have more trees than most places so the air is always clean
(I'm in Alabama)
The key is to make it breathe and not hurt warrant-able areas since it's a limited run (I'm sure there will be debate on this but I'm affiliated enough with SAE to know what NOT to do: re-engineer, "un-engineer", fool with timings or tolerances, or any of the base configuration).
A "delight" I've noticed with respect to noise: you can tell the exhaust has been modded... when the windows are down. Every "flow mod" I've ever done on other vehicles was noticeable right away, windows up or down.
You can barely tell anything with the windows up (except pitch and performance), i.e., they've quietened this car. I'll weigh it in a few weeks to see just how much was added. FTR, my 08 was ~3650 lbs.

Jason have you posted any pics yet? I think a lot of it comes down to how you associate with the paint and interior. Some will love it, some will hate it...I'm still sort of on the fence. Definitely different, but a pretty cool change imo.
(Plus the NSAN stock went from ~$15 to ~$19 in the past 6 months... they're doing something right over there
)
I'll put some high-rez pics up here as soon as the weather clears.
You gotta see it and drive it. It's just "different" and definitely something we can all be objective and proud of. I, for one, definitely want the "M" or "AMG" equivalent and if this gets us closer to one then I'm all in.

that's all that matters. But sadly I have to say this car just isn't impressive (to me), it's the same as the corolla type S, matrix type S and celiac type S. Everyone is assuming Infiniti will do more on the next model, maybe they won't, Toyota doesn't with their "type-S" line, their performance is with TRD, the S is purely cosmetic with minimal to no performance just like the IPL line (so far).
Michelin Pilot Sport PS2. you should grab a pair for your IPL, I'm willing to assume you can get good monies for your pretty much new tires. But my wheels don't support the performance theory, their heavy, my whole car is a piggy.
I'm not sure what the going rate is, but "if" you wanted to sell your IPL stocks, I'm sure you can get good monies there too, and pick up some gramlights or volks if you're serious about a lightweight wheel to help your car. but then again all of these things I'm thinking would take away from the limited features you have and would be pointless. I'd like to see your car though, any pics? how do you honestly compare it to the other G's you've owned? Is the leather different from the other models? because to my "eye" the 2011 leather on the seats looks different, and the cushions as well.

For this IPL, though, these OEM wheels look amazing and were definitely a selling point. The dealer showed me their manifest because one of the managers wanted to get a set for his G. Dealer cost was $1139 each as of 23 DEC 10. There will probably be some loosening of this cost soon.
Lightening the car is definitely "on the list" so I'll look in this direction in about a year (after some break-in, intakes, headers, pulleys, possible test-pipes, etc.).
you should be able to see pics on my Facebook page:

I'll have some high-rez to post soon.
. Needless to say, he's a convert. This G is tighter and even quieter than the 3 sedans I've driven (hard to believe but true). It's a notch more responsive than an '09 or '10, especially at 5500+ on the tach. That makes sense, too, with an exhaust and ECU mod (experienced this on my SE-Rs and Zs over the years).
It doesn't "track" or "tramline" at all, at any speed. My '08 and 2 '09s that I drove would. I always thought that was a tire issue but I went through 2 sets on my '08 and still had to be careful. As an engineer, this issue is very curious. I think it's easily fixed on other models with the mods you all mentioned earlier: adjustable camber plates, struts, springs, and bracing.
I hate this word, but the leather is slightly more "supple" (ick!) yet still holds you nicely. They feel slightly better than my buddy's 335 and almost as cush as a 6 or 7-series (I have a good friend-girl with a 760iL and a buddy with a convertible 650i).
The interior is much quieter and "flexes" more smoothly over twisties and goofy road-parking lot-driveway transitions (I had my 08 from "almost new": 5k miles on the odo and it was a CPO).
My 08s flywheel was LOUD (6MT). You could immediately tell when the car was in neutral. The dealer and I couldn't figure any reason.
The tranny was also "whinier" but never failed to perform. It just reminded me of my z-cars so I never noticed until driving some of the 9s, 10s, and this IPL.
I need to make it very clear that I had no real issues (other than the brake rotors; dealer fixed) with my '08 and love it still. I hated to bid "farewell" but know it'll get to make someone else happy; that makes me happy. You all should be able to see "Gisele's" album on my FB page (pretty sure it's public). Now I just need to figure out a name for this IPL...
That's a very good write up, thank you for the information. It sounds like this car is exactly what you were looking or, and that's always a plus! I can't wait to see what you do with it along the years. And wow those wheels are expensive, but it makes since, I believe they are limited, at least you won't have to worry about seeing them all over the place.
Keep us updated on what you name your IPL, I believe you are the first one on here with one correct? or are there others lurking around watching you shine
