Sunroof Controller Install

here are some pictures for a coupe.

if anyone has a sedan that can take some test reading for me that would be great.

here is what you will need to do:
do you have a digital multimeter? if so, think you could take some readings for us to see if it will work on the sedan? all you would have to do is pop off the cover over the sunroof switch. unscrew the screws that holed it in then pull it down. there will be three wires connected to it. one thats on the left and then there are two on the right. one is at the top (close / vent) on the right and one is at the bottom (open) on the right. plug the black end to ground and then take the red end and connect it to one of the wires on the right. turn the car on and then push the sunroof switch the way that pertains to that wire. so if you connect it to the top one push the button so it vents. repeat these sets for the other wire. after you have done that could you send me the reading that you got aka when i put the red wire on one wire it read 12 volts but the then i pushed the button it went to 0 volts or when i connected the red wire it read 0 volt and when i pushed the button it read 12 volts. if you can do that that would be awesome cause then we can find out if it will work on the sedans!!

let me know
thanks daniel

On the yellow when I press and hold I get 11.9v, If I press and hold on the red I get the same 11.9v.

Red reads 12v and when pushed it drops to 11.9v

what i found curious was the one touch feature. If I press and hold Iget the aforementioned reaings but If I press and release the reading drops out but the roof continues to open or close depending on the action.

I have not looked at the shop manual for this yet. Is there a body controll module that takes over for the one touch?

This is my take. Tell me if I'm wrong.

Red is the power supply since it is always on (when the key is on). + power is then provided to the circuit depending on which button is pushed. It's a simple rocker switch.

The control module must sense whether it received a short pulse of power or a long one and operates the motor accordingly.

Keep up the R&D. I need a module for my sedan.

yeh plus power is provided
but the coupes switch to ground

sedans are backwards from every other car nissan makes. and that means that the service manual isnt wrong.

So with that being said, what's next?? Sedans get no sunroof module or is it workable? Thanks Dan

I took a good look at hte coupe Sunroof module hardware this morning and I think it may be possible to convert it to the sedan. I hope to get home tonight nad test it out.

Another option would be to use a couple of relays to swap the siganls around. Hopefully, one way or the other, we will get it firgured out so the sedans arn't left out.

If you eed me to do anything let me know. I wish I already had one in my hand; I'd be happy to try to mod the mod and test.

I am going to buy a butane soldering iron on Friday. I got a little distracted this evening and was not able to get over to radio shack.

Hey Dan, Thanks for putting me in touch with your friend with the truck. Everything worked out just perfect. I owe you a beer or 12.

Cool, thanks.

I don't think I will be able to modify the existing circuitry to work with the sedans. The next step is to try and modify the KPtechnologies relay pack to make everything work. The big problem with that is that we will need 4 relays, and the relay packs only have 3 relays in them.

I hacked up a relay board tonight and I'm headed in the right direction, just need to finalize it all and make sure its going to work.
