Re-posting from Detailing

Sorry if I'm reposting this, but I know our club forum will get more traffic. I'm looking for some quick answers/advice...here's my post:

I'm getting my windows tinted tomorrow. I was wondering if there will be any issues with the power windows automatic adjust function. Meaning...when the doors are opened by the installer, the windows roll down slightly. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if the installer installs the tint on the inside of the window, isn't the tint going to be a "little off" when the window automatically adjusts up? And when the door is closed it adjusts up, so will the tint rub off on the inside of the jam? Are there any tips I should tell the tint installer just in case he hasn't worked with this car? I'm sure every thing will be fine, but this just popped into my head and became a little concerned. Any advice would be great...Thanks!

This is true...if you unscrew the contact sensor slightly the window rolls up the rest of the way...let them install it then tighten it back up...

easy as 123...

dabomb, thanx for that info....but where can I find the Contact Sensor? And do I do this while I'm inside the car? I'm not exactly sure when the auto adjust pulls down the window.

Nothing will happen, they should dry the majority of those parts of the window before they give you your car back. Just let your car sit out during the day should be dry within a few hours. I rolled my windows down as soon as I left the tint shop, no problems.

There is a little bellows assembly (black accordian looking thing) on your door jam. Push it in w/ your finger and you will see that the window goes up about 1/4". If you tighten the screw under the bellows assembly the window will go up and stay up. This will allow the tinter to install the tint (with the door open) and the window will be 100% of the way up. The installer will use a heat gun and dry out the bottom 1" or so of the tint so that when you losen this screw to allow the window to go back down the bottom 1/4" of the tint will not get messed up (since it will be dry).

DO NOT accidentally close your door with this screw tightened. It might mess up your weather strip.
