University of Miami defensive lineman Bryan Pata was shot and killed Tuesday night, shortly after leaving the practice field, according to a university official with knowledge of the situation.

The official, speaking on condition of anonymity because a formal announcement still was being prepared by the university, had no knowledge of the circumstances surrounding Pata's death.

Miami-Dade police refused to release specific information about what happened.

Bryan Pata, a 6-foot-4, 272-pound senior, is from Miami.

I've got your springs sitting here. I ran into Austin just the other day, I'm going to get in touch with him again and setup a time to do so, he said it was no problem at all using the lift. You'll just have to bring some of those cases of beers you've got sitting at the house.
