wheel weight and new wheel/car questions
Okay, searched 3 sites for 45 minutes and I'm grumpy.
Does anyone know the wheel weight of the stock 19" coupe wheels???
I'm thinking of getting some Black Axis Reverbs, 18x9.5fr, 18x10.5rr...I will likely run 255-265/35 front and 275-295/30 rear tires. I know these will likely be a bit shorter than stock, but does anything think that I should go ahead and drop my car just a smidge to compensate with some new springs?
I am not big on lowering cars, and feel a set of sways (I'm gonna do these at the same time as the wheel swap) is all I really need, but I don't want an overly noticable gap but I am going with a significantly wider set-up and don't want the car to low, either...
Any thoughts?
PS: My stock wheels with 17k on the tires will be for sale soon. Two of the lips (one front, one rear) have some curb rash. I decided to buy new wheels as it is impractical for me to get two wheels repaired since I'll have to ship them somewhere as there are no shops around here to get them taken care of...

I'd suggest a slight drop, but not so much as to require a camber kit. I have read others say that new sway bars were the best mod they ever did.
Unless you like the stretched tire look, go for the wide end of your tire width range. Don't go less than 255 front and 285 rear on those wide rims.

We called Axis and they did not recommend the 18x10.5's at all as they would really mess up the handling dynamics of the car IN THEIR OPINION. Moreso, they truly dissuade against even thinking of running 18x9.5's on the front at all...
It looks like I'm going to go with the 18x8.5fr and 18x9.5rr with 245/40/18 and 275/40/18 tires. They'll be about a pound heavier per wheel, but about 1/2" less in diameter, probably offsetting the additional weight (I'm not doing the physics here). At this point, I'll probably going with the Kumho ASX's over the Nitto 555s...
