I've done more mods to my 6MT Sedan than I can even try to list off the top of my head, but the Clutch & Flywheel is something I've avoided and will only address when the clutch goes bad... which is unlikely at low miles. There's the potential for the Clutch Slave Cylinder to fail on me. That happened once at 18k miles, and I'm just hoping it doesn't occur again because obviously I'm out of warranty. We all are now, LOL.

Anyway, chatter is my most significant reason for not going LW on the flywheel. Other than that, everything I've read over the years is that a LW flywheel is a valid mod for increased power response. As for the clutch... I've driven a few aftermarket clutches and don't like it, so if ever I were to go that route it would be with a mild stage.

After you resolve your Clutch & Flywheel project, I strongly recommend the RJM Clutch Pedal assembly paired with any make Short Throw Shifter. Both are fantastic, inexpensive, and likely DIY mods for the 6MT.

In other random info... your Vert has 3.91 gears, but without VLSD. The shorter gears are likely to offset the extra 400 pounds for that drop-top. I don't know why Nissan didn't give the Vert 6MT limited slip. That was a strange decision.

GL and welcome to the forum.

ps. driving a 6MT Vert was the clincher for me back in 2011 that I really wanted a G with the 6MT. A buddy of mine back then loaned me his Vert for a few days to just drive around. It was a blast. Top down was a fantastic experience, and top-up was a great look. At the end of the day though I decided I wanted 4 doors and a usable back seat for my kids, and a lighter car to chuck around when alone.

Thanks for the info

Yes with the top down this thing is a blast. Before I had kids I owned a 350z 6mt which was awesome.

I had the 4 door for same reasons- much more practical and still a sleeper that takes off like a rocket and handles very well for a sedan.

this coupe is just for the weekend and for now the kids fit ok- just don’t plan on bringing any luggage at all.

i will def check out the suggested pedal upgrade. I am now looking at the thread with the quiet lightened flywheel- seems almost too good to be true

first thing I plan to do is flush and replace the clutch fluid and then see how it feels. I burned the clutch bad when I was stuck in traffic on super steep incline. Had to turn around. Pedal feel returned but still smells bad and likely will need to be done.

My long term plan is a serious diet to try to shave off some of those extra pounds.

Beats me. Like I said, I keep walking away from this mod, so I'm not the guy for advice on what to buy.

I could've should've replaced the OEM CSC with an external unit, but when mine failed the car was only 2 years old, so I had the dealership fix it. Anyway, there are kits. You'll see once you research it.

I have seen the kits.

It would end up being almost double the cost parts wise.

Yes, but labor for the CSC would be (could be) less since the transmission is already being worked on. In for a penny...

Good luck either way. I'd love to read some new comments on a clutch & flywheel upgrade from someone who isn't a kid anymore.
