6MT G37S gear shift problems

Hey everyone, I have a 2013 G37S Sedan 6MT and need a little guidance. I was driving it for about 2 minutes, accelerating at a normal pace, went to shift into 3rd gear and felt a "snap" or disconnect feeling in the shifter. The gear shift then went totally limp and moves around without any resistance or ability to shift into neutral or another gear. The car stayed in 2nd or 3rd gear and I was able to turn around and park it back at my house, luckily.

Any idea where I should start troubleshooting, or what parts I should order to start repairing this? Will it be serviceable from the gear shift area or will I need to be able to get underneath the car (I have access to a lift, but I'd have to have the car towed to the location)?

I'm not extremely tech savvy when it comes to cars but I have some experience working on them. I've changed belts, done oil changes, break jobs, changed diff fluid out, jobs like that. Is this a job that is more trouble than it's worth and I should just bite the bullet and send it to my nearest mechanic/ Nissan stealership?

Specs of my car are here: https://www.myg37.com/forums/newbie-...sedan-6mt.html

Thanks for your help.

I'd start by crawling under and looking up into the area where the stick goes down through the floorboard and into the top of the transmission. It's connected by a single small bolt, IIRC.

Gotcha, I'll take a look under it today if I can fit. Unfortunately my car is lowered a bit so might be tight squeeze.

You almost certainly won't be able to get under it without a jack and jack stands, so hopefully you have those. Be sure to always use jack stands whenever you're under a car!
