Infiniti G37 Transmission Problem
Infiniti G37 Transmission Problem
Hi! I have a 2011 G37xS and I am experiencing what I think is transmission slip. Sometimes when I am making a turn (and therefore giving the car very little throttle) the car jumps forward before I apply any extra throttle. Also today for the second time my car put itself in neutral while I was driving. I was parking my car and it went it to neutral before going back into drive. Does anyone have a fix for this? I wanted to check my transmission fluid levels but… g37’s don’t have one. Will infiniti be able look at my fluid levels for free? Any help is highly appreciated!
The transmission doesn't offer a simple means of checking the fluid level as there is a drain and fill plug only. Do you know the maintenance history for the transmission (service is recommended every 30K, some wait much longer)? Any Nissan or Infiniti dealer can perform a drain and fill service for about $200 (Nissan, Infiniti charges more); a full fluid exchange (closer to 10 quarts) can also be done for roughly 2x the cost, but this is normally discouraged at higher mileage.
If you are handy, doing the work yourself is of medium difficulty. You can find guidance through the DIYs here on the community. This video was my personal favorite (370Z has the automatic same transmission):
Note that I have never seen anyone here on the community remove and clean the filter (optional) and when you take it to the dealer for a drain and fill, they do not remove/clean the pan and magnets.
You can buy the Matic-S OEM fluid here for a good price: https://www.z1motorsports.com/auto-t...b2ce3b19b122e1
You will need about 6-7 quarts for a drain and fill (some recommend doing this service 2-3 times back to back, which will require more fluid/time). Many have reported very noticeable and positive results after performing this service.
