Consult 3 with p0106

I have the laptop and software from another issue. Can I use it to reflash the ecu or is that a dealership only thing? I only have Nissan dealerships near me

In practice, yes you can use CONSULT-3 to flash the ECU. However, getting the actual file to flash to the ECU can be problematic. You would have to order the ECU zip files from Infiniti (see here) which likely requires some type of registration/ subscription fee on top of the cost of the ECU file.

On top of that, by flashing the ECU, you will likely erase your security/ iKey codes which means you would have to get your keys synced to the ECU- not hard, just a hassle and anything can go wrong in the process. CONSULT3 is supposed to retain that information and apply it to the new ECU flash but I have seen it fail that component.

Plus, you are using a cloned CONSULT3/VI- no guarantees that it will work to begin with.

I would take it to the dealership and have them do it. Nissan can do it, whether they will want to do it is another matter. IF it needs to be done in the first place.

Tell me you are not trying to diagnose P0106 by reflashing the ECU?

I had P0106 about 8 months or so ago and fixed it by cleaning both of the sensors and reinstalling them, then doing the reset twice.

I'm trying to figure out if that's something that's even an option. Sounds like it's more trouble than it's worse since it could cause so many other complications.

Given that I cleaned both sensors correctly before and cleared the code for several months, what would your first step be? 92k miles.
