Fuel temp sensor code

Fuel temp sensor code

Hey guys, I got a fuel temp sensor code today, p0181
any of you come across this before? Is this a big deal that needs fixed right away? Also is the sensor a separate part i can replace?

Though a bit uncommon they can go bad. You can buy a separate sensor however the installation might have to be soldered.

OEM doesnt sell this separate from the pump assembly

A replacement most likely wont have connectors to plug into the pump assembly, this sensor from the factory is soldered in.

They sell them cheap, $20-$40 depending on where you look. Installation can be a pain depending on your skills.

I trust myself and my electronics skills, my approach would be to pull the pump slightly, remove the sensor and replace while in the car. Some might find this approach difficult or impossible so I'll leave it at your discretion since the manual demands the pump assembly to be removed.
