From what I've been able to gather from the FSM probably either the fuel level sensor is malfunctioning or the fuel guage (in the dash) is not getting the correct signal. Has the gas gauge been functioning correctly recently?

Likely they'll either need to replace the fuel-level sensor in the tank or repair a wire or connector somewhere in between.

But I'm not an expert, just a guy with a manual, so take that with a grain of salt.

Mine came on today but I cleared it with my scan tool. We'll see what happen once he ECU is ready after a few miles. But I did notice the fuel gauge was all the way down after I parked on a hill facing up for about 8 hours but then jump back up to half in about 10-15 sec which what I had before I shut it off. Very strange.
