Cv axle boot
Cv axle boot
So I went to fix my wheel bearings today because I was getting a lot of strange noises that would make me believe it was a wheel bearing. Well, I went to take my bearing and hub off and all of a sudden I see my CV boot is completely gone. Has anyone else had problems with their cv axles/boots on their X models after lowering their car? I’m lowered on BC’s and I’ve heard a lot of mixed things from it. Im in the Midwest so road conditions aren’t great out here. Can anyone speak to this/ does anyone have any solutions to the issue? I mean the clear solution is to replace the axle because it’s lost all the grease at this point. Are there any preventative measures I could take? Thanks in advance.
Im on Swift lowering springs and only once did my cv axle boot rip because I was doing some backroad driving and there was a sharp turn and in that turn came a bump which caused it to rip. But other than that never had an issue. I also have SPC front and rear control arms running -1 camber on all corners. Just make sure you are not running -2 to -3 camber or that can cause the boot to rip.
My drivers' side went out after I was lowered on Fortune Auto 500. That was after having them on for about 20k miles but the car also had 90-100k miles on it at that time as well.
