hey guys, so I was looking to see if I should change my ATF on my g37 sedan 2012, i got about 136k miles never changed, is it safe to do?

I'd just leave it alone unless it is already experiencing issues. If you flush at such a high mileage you're bound to end up getting transmission slip.

 

Is a 3x drain & fill safe?

 

Personally I would do it.

Would you not change oil after 20k miles?

Drain and fill is less of an impact than a flush, which is under pressure.

I have 106k miles and i will prob flush mine around 135k miles. then after that, will drain and refill it going forward, every 45k miles.

 

I have been told countless times on this forum that if I were to change the ATF, only drain and refill rather than flushing it.

I know this is an old thread but people get the word flush confused with exchange. Just tell the shop not to put flush additive into the machine and you'll be fine. All the machine does is put the same amount of fluid in that comes out. You saw problems when they added the flush chemicals back in the day. I did mine at 245 thousand miles on my Volvo by just using new fluid and all is well. When I did my G at 70 thousand using BG fluid it felt like a new transmission. It shifted so smooth. Just had my transmission out for a broken flexplate and the Infiniti dealer had to put 4 new quarts of fluid in and now it doesn't shift as smooth. I don't like the Infiniti fluid.

i would. Just go to a Nissan dealer that uses BG trans fluid since it should only be a few $$$ more than a side dealer. In my opinion the Nissan trans fluid doesn't handle heat as well as the fluid gets older. https://www.bgprod.com/find-a-shop/

 

I used OEM fluid; even after mods + tune and my transmission was fine. That said, I've seen guys on the Mustang forums swear by BG fluid for the MT-82.

im at 143 and still not changed once

 

Me? I did mine every 45k. If you're already at 145k you might be better off leaving the fluid alone. The clutch debris in the fluid is probably what's still allowing the clutches to bite and removing may result in slippage.

 

Just do it and stop worrying. Use the BG fluid. You'll be fine
