Help Engine Belt Durability Test?
Hey all, i'm going to get my G tuned this thursday. He told me to make sure that my belt is in good condition since i'm gonna be putting it on the dyno. Can anyone give me advice on how to check if it is still good? If there's something I can do to test it or at least look for some sort of indicator that it needs to be changed. I bought by car off someone about 6 months ago, so I am not sure the last time the belt was changed out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Look at the serpentine belt for cracks because of age. If you don't know the last time it was changed, change it. $20 give or take for the belt, and either DIY or a mechanic will probably do it for $50.
You know what, just put a new one in for peace of mind. It will probably be your last belt ever.
