WOT below temp safe mode?

Hello there, I'm wondering if these cars have safety parameters that would turn off the engine if they're not met. Example: Some vehicles wont engage Lift/high cam unless they've reached operating them.

I was coming out of the of the back of the building and decided to lay on it while temps were half way and while it shifted to 2nd car stalled and turned off. Turned back on and let it warm up and no issues.

Leaving work I decided to replicate and surely enough it did, temps were again half-way. Don't know if anyone else has had this happen them however I found peculiar as I have not found info of it happening to others.

Let me know if this has happened to you, thank you.

Ho there.

I live in Western NY, where below freezing temps are common, and this has never happened to me. Then again, I never go WOT unless the car is up to temp, regardless summer or winter, and TBH I'm disinclined to test it out.

Didn't you recently cut & splice sections of your wiring harness for an engine bay tuck? Could there be a connection between those events?

Negative, that was on my V35, the V36 just moved things around.

Reason why I ask is I did dismantled the entire front timing covers to do seals and tensioners and though everything has been working fine this hiccup had me wondering if anyone else had noticed this.

I'm going to say no. Here's why. When I bought my 13 IPL we started it cold start. Waited 5 min and tore up back.roads before deciding to buy it.

This is good to know. I'll be trying again in the next couple of days to see where it goes.

Download torque pro app and you'll be able to see oil temps. Check out motorvate on YouTube for steps. Definitely dont go too crazy while engine is totally cold.

I don't think so...

I have been doing some research on the VQ37 for oil pressure vs oil temp vs engine RPM.
One of the tests (which I hate doing!) is WOT to 7,500 RPM on a cold (0C / 32F) engine.
It pulls hard to redline and doesn't stall or turn off.

I suspect your throttle bodies might be dirty. When was the last time you cleaned them?

They're clean, I have done massive amount of maintenance to the car all at once. Timing covers, ALL gaskets, Manifold/throttles/MAFs cleaned, Waterpump, Galleries, tensioners. and have probably about 24 hours of driving time since. I still have not duplicated it since Tuesday as I'm waiting for additional part.

Throttles were left connected during the process and they were cleaned correctly, overall the car has not given me any issues other than this and sincerely I feel like this could be tied to something else. Just crossing Ts being that most vehicles with Variable cam components and oil temp sensors seem to have some safety precautions to prevent "granadeing"

Thanks again for the input guys.

After cleaning the MAFs, did you do the "idle air volume learning"?

I did with consult. I have since re - routed my PCV system and it's working fine however I learned the stupid importance of idle relearn on these cars.
I pray for those that dont know about idle learn and try to work on these with old knowledge.

Why re-route the PCV system?

Looks and also some function.

I spent a lot of time into the bay to have it look the way I wanted and the PCV system is just ugly and in the way. Aftermarket system just had hoses to everywhere and were not compact enough so I made my own.
Looks a lot better in my opinion

This problem never happened again, I suspect it could have been due to a bad battery.
