Exclamation Engine lagging / sputtering

So an odd situation happened to me back in August and since it was a one time occurrence I ignored it... until it happened again yesterday.

On the first occasion I was on the highway doing about 120km/h when the car in front of me slowed down suddenly. I had to break as well and dropped down to about 80km/h but my car was still in 7th gear (7AT in manual mode). When I went to accelerate the tach lagged and I couldn't get any power. I figured this was because the car didn't down shift accordingly and I was still in 7th, however dropped down to 6th and nothing, 5th as well. I pulled off the road, turned off my car waited 5 minutes turned it back on and everything was good.

It happened again yesterday while going up a hill behind a slow truck. I was doing ~80km/h in 5th and downshifted to 4th to get some torque to pass him however the engine sputtered and I couldn't get any power.

Please see the video below of me trying to rev the engine after the 2nd time (last night). I couldn't even get it above 2500 RPM

Thanks for any insight....I have a feeling this is a transmission ecu update that is needed but not sure if I should bother taking it to the dealer.

Sounds like limp mode .... not sure what you did by the way you describe it would put you in that mode though.

Thanks, I looked up "limp mode" but can't find anything definitive. It seems that TCU updates have been successful at fixing aggresive downshifts etc but nothing that really seems like the same problem as mine.

Similar problem happened to me after installing my intake. Try resetting the ECU by unplugging the negative wire from the battery. Worked for me, should work for you.

Did you go through any large water puddles or clean the engine.

If you are still under warranty have the dealer figure out the problem for you.

Thanks - I've had the intake on for 8-9 months before it happened the first time though...

It was raining on the first occasion, but not hard enough to flood the engine

No longer under warranty, but I'm probably going to take it in Monday and have them see if my tcu is up to date.
