Help Installed Takeda CAI and it comes off
Installed Takeda CAI and it comes off
I’ve purchased and installed a new takeda cai and had it installed about 2 months ago. Whenever I give her some juice I find that my coupler comes loose from the drivers side plenum and the intake pipe comes loose which puts me into limp mode until I reconnect it. Does anyone else have this problem and any possible fixes I don’t want to go crazy tight on the hose clamp and warp the pipe.
The polished piping is too smooth to clamp. Mine came apart at filters. My solution 1000 grit sandpaper where coupler slides in so it can bite. Sucks but if I kept tighten the clamps I would crush the piping.
I have the same issue going on with me currently right now. I hadn't had any issues with it the first 3 months of having the CAI installed(takeda). The last 2 months I installed the afe throttle body spacers and had no issue after that everything was still good clamps never came loose. I put on the swift springs and less than 2 weeks later I threw codes from the intake falling off the throttle body. Last night I noticed after retightening that it was already coming loose. Today I went and bought new clamps I think maybe the old ones weren't holding the Intske as well anymore because of the one and off with the 2 other installs. Did you ever rough up the piping to see if that helped, bc that's my next option or bigger couplers that I can put more clamps on. Never had this happen before to me.
The new clamps ended up solving the problem so far, but if ends up happening again. Then I am going to give the hairspray a shot just so it has some sort of grip like you said. I really think the clamps were shot though. Only time will tell. Seriously though thank you for the feedback.

Find an exhaust shop or body shop with a bead roller and have them put a small bead edge on where it goes into the hosing. Then the clamp doesn't have to exert quite as much force to keep it seated.
