You have an automatic?

Try starting in N.

Stickshift? If so, anything unplugged on your clutch pedal?

Automatic, tried starting in neutral no dice. Also moved the car a few feet & no success.

There was a tiny bit of water in the battery tray which was surprising. Hope this car was meant to be washed & hoping ecu didn't get damaged? Off to the dealer I suppose

Dealer says its the starter, arching inside
$900 installed after taxes
On rockauto I see a TYC starter for like $72 - any experience with those? Dealer wants $450 for theirs

That's about right.

https://www.infinitipartsdeal.com/pa...300-ey00d.html

You plan on installing this yourself? If so, and it's fairly easy to do, then go for the rockauto.

If you are not, then you'll want OEM. Labor is $$$ so you can't afford to have someone else install over and over a POS reman unit from rockauto.

If it's a royal PITA to install, then buy OEM. Whether it's your or someone else installing it, you don't want to do this again and again.

That cheap unit I referenced is the only new one RA sells but must have some drawback. I don’t have time for the install so it’s either a buddy or the dealer. Hoping buddy can handle it. I have read a few posts about this being a more involved job. Also not convinced OEM is the best considering I only have 40k miles

Looks easy to install:

So, you COULD try a cheap reman unit. Up to you!
