Won't stay in gear

My son got stuck on his way home from work today. He has a 2010 G37x. The car would move a short distance and then stop accelerating like it was in neutral. The only way to get it to move again is to turn the car off and restart. He could only go about 20 feet at a time. This was the first time he drove it in snow. I'm thinking it may have something to do with the traction control. Any ideas? Thanks.

Did you try turning off the traction control? Also has the transmission fluid been changed?

Thanks for the response. I did not turn off the traction control and the transmission fluid has not been changed. The next day I went to try to get the car home. A drove it around a parking lot and it seemed to be working fine. When I got it out on the street it started having the same problem. I was able to get it home by keeping it in second gear and driving slow. When I got home the driver's door wouldn't open from either inside or out. I'm assuming that's a separate issue.
