Code p0300 p0020 p0524

So my 09 g37 s would randomly have a check engine light turn on showing the code p0300 (random misfire) and it would only turn on in cold snowy winter days. As soon as temperatures reach over 50 f it turns off. I don't drive it in the snow cuz its rear wheel drive and I live in a mountainy rural area where snow isntcleaned all the time in the winter.

So this year once the cold came in the check engine light turned on just like before. but this time I wanted to get at it and fix it and took it to the auto zone for the free scan. And while driving there my car went into limp mode and after getting there the guy hooked up his computer and gave me these three codes. P0300 p0524 p0020. Does anyone know if maybe just one of the codes can be causing the other two? Or all 3 can be different? And did anyone have anything similar. Can you guys help me figure out what I can do to fix it

Google...
P0524: Low oil pressure
P0300: Random misfire
P0020: Intake camshaft oil sensor short/open

That's the basics of what those codes mean. 524 is sent off by the oil pressure sender basically telling the computer that there isn't enough pressure in the system. 300 is set because there is a misfire and the engine doesn't know where it's coming from or why. 020 is set by an oil pressure sensor in the bank 2 camshaft region.

My best guess? P0524 is what is causing at least 2/3 of your problems. Because P0524 and P0020 are both related to oil, there has to be either some sort of blockage or the pickup in the oil pan has something restricting flow.

Best of luck with getting this all sorted out! I would start at the camshafts on the driver side of the motor ans see if theres a block somewhere up there, then tear deeper into it

Hey thanks for replying, hmm that seems to make sense. Ill start to get at it then. Hopefully it's quick and simple. But eith 130000 miles on it.... I doubt it. What could be blocking it up?

Honestly, anything. I saw someone in another thread had an aluminum cap from an oil jug covering his oil pickup!

Just check jt out, see what’s up. If your not comfortable doing it yourself, take it to a shop, or your dealer, cause you don’t wanna ruin a motor trying to fix it!

Thanks for the advice. Do you know why in the summer the light goes away and comes back in the winter? This is the second time it has happened last winter it was like that then summer went away and came back in the winter

When does the light come on? Is it when you first fire up the car, or is it after you've driven it for a few minutes? I don't know this motor too well just yet, but in my personal experience it always seems to run a little rough when it starts in temperatures below freezing. Granted, my SES light hasn't come on since my fuel pressure regulator was fixed.

yeah it turns on after idling for a minute or two. Sometimes it turns on after I start it the second time after getting to a store.

Very strange...

I wouldn't be able to tell you the issue from my computer I'm afraid... If I were in your shoes I would be going to a shop I trust... Save yourself the hassle and have them look into the codes
