Which oil for VVEL

Hi Guys, I'm sure there's already lots of talk about which oil to use in these engines, I'm just wondering about a Nissan ester oil equivalent as it isn't available here in NZ i.e Mobil 1 5w30 / Mobil 1 extended performance 5w30 / Penrite 10 Tenths Racing5 5w30 / Motul 300v 5w30. Any recommendations? The Penrite looks really good as it is 100% Pao Ester Synthetic. I want something that's going to keep VVEL system in good shape and something I can walk into a shop and buy rather than order the Nissan Ester oil from overseas. cheers

Whatever grade is recommended in your owner's manual (mine sez 5W/30) that meets SAE SJ (I think that's the latest) rating. Don't know if y'all worry about the SAE stuff, though.

I run Mobil 1 5w-30 extended performance in the winter and Mobil 1 0w-40 in the summer. This engine gets run very hard as I am not shy about being near rev limit.

I'm not sure what's meant by the "FULL ZINC" on the label, but if they mean zinc dithiophosphate, I'd steer clear if your car is equipped with catalytic converters.

Thanks, I just did some research on here and that does appear to have best results on here. What would you recommend for oil filter? I want to do my first oil change on my 2013 G37x in a week or two before winter.

Whichever brand you select, look for the V-8 Titan filter. It is the same as the G filter but is half-an-inch longer for a little extra filtration.

i probably wouldnt be able to get a titan filter off the shelf. I could probably get one from ebay etc. Here in NZ we dont get the Nissan Titans which is a shame, i would love to have the 5.6 V8! The closest thing we have to that engine in a Nissan is the Nissan Fuga 450GT which is the JDM version of the Infiniti M45

The Fuga 450GT filter is the one you want.

You can get any brand you want as long as its marked compatible with the Fuga.

Or you can look up an equivalent to the Mobil1 M1-110 filter.

The Motul 300V would be my recommendation out of those options. I've used it before track days and on regular oil changes but its super pricey in North America and wouldn't use it for regular oil changes again due to cost

I use Redline and have noticed it to be noticeably quieter than Royal Purple. I'm not sure if that helps at all or if Redline is even available to you.
