Issues with my Stillen Supercharger Kit

Ok so let me start off saying I bought this kit new the satin tuner kit for $6900, had it installed by a very competent local shop that works on mostly higher end imports . I get the kit, came with oil cooler, purchased a TIAL QRJ- BOV and AEM AF/Boost gauges. Shop installs everything, this was the tuned kit that comes with the UpRev cable that allows you to put the base tune on. Well, the car is putting out CRAP power. It claims 380-420 whp with that tune. My shop on a mustang dyno granted put down only 270 WHP at first. UNREAL. UpRev tells them to do a compression test on my engine. Comes back perfect. Then they say could be clogged cats, so the shop puts in used Invidia test pipes and takes out my cats, runs it again 280 WHP. Mustang Dyno from everything I have read online reads approximately 15-17% less than a DynoJet. So approximately 310 WHP.

No boost leaks at all. Hits 7-8 PSI on the gauge. Very dissapointed over here. I have been in contact with Stillen almost daily for the past 2 weeks, they want me to take it to an UpRev shop outside Charlotte, NC, but on MY DIME. I think that's insane. You advertise a kit making X amount of power and it comes up 100 HP short? I already paid $2900 for the install and dyno time multiple times to try to figure out the problems and it still came out slow as *****. Pretty pissed they basically fake advertised their kit making 380-420 WHP with their base tune. I would have gladly paid $400 less to just put it towards the custom tune.

Sorry man but sound about right for the "Base" Stillen tune. It's know to make "crap power" out for the box. I made the same power, I made 310 WHP bolted install the Stillen kit and made a WHOOPING 340 WHP, I immediately paid for a custom tune and made 412 WHP. Sorry but you'll need a custom tune to make their advertised numbers. Not to mention the kit has "holes" that I'd check out the 370Z forum and the Air to Air kit that's offered. The stock heat exchange is JUNK will heat soak in seconds.

You made 310 WHP before the Stillen Install? What bolt on's did you have? I just had a muffler delete, than the shop put used invidia test pipes on and took out the stock cats and it went from 270whp to 280 whp on a mustang dyno. Were you're numbers on a dynojet ? TIA

This isn't that surprising. You are going to have to get a custom tune if you want any power out of it. Do it right on the tune the first time, there are tons of people that tune the VQ37 platform, but only a handful do it right. You can also go the e-tune route, I THINK Sebz at Specialty Z does Uprev e-tuning, you may need confirmation on that.

I've read the Stillen tunes haven't been known to play nicely either so I'd be easy pushing it while running that base tune. Sucks, but you'll have to put out a bit more for the full potential to be tapped. Hit up Spec. Z and call it a day...

If you want to know almost everything there is to know about the Stillen kit go over to the370zcom. there is a wealth of info over there. Go to the engine and drivetrain section and hit the Forced Induction sub section. Quite a few have been in the same shoes as you are and have improved the kit to satisfaction. The choice of how much more you will have to spend is up to you but you will have to kick out some more bucks if you want your motor to run safely while you have fun. The heat soak issue is real but can be fixed. There are several tuners that have the skills to make the Stillen kit work. Since you have an 08 model the ecu may limit you to Uprev I think. Good Luck!

I had Stillen cold Air intakes, Exoticspeed catabck( Best sound IMO) and Z1 HFC's. Mustang dyno( reads low)

On my other G I was fully bolted( same as above) with Stillen headers and made 324 WHP same dyno.

The quote about don't push the Stillen kit on their tune us great advice, to be honest in the set up they sell it in I wouldn't push it at all. Kit has been known to take a few motors, mine included

Wanted to update this thread. It was a NIGHTMARE dealing with Stillen. Customer service is TERRIBLE. I read on here before I bought the kit, but was hoping they changed some. This guy Dean over there swore to me he never heard of anyone with the V3 SC kit making less than 350-380 whp with their TUNE. BS! Their tune is completely useless. It has no timing. What a fraud of false advertisement on their site saying it will make 380-420 WHP with that tune. Anyways, I had to get my cable upgraded so my tuner could tune it with UpRev. He tuned it somewhat conservative. He felt he could have gotten 15-20 WHP easily out of it, but since it's my DD and I'm not racing it he felt comfortable putting it where its at. On his Mustang Dynameter it was low to be expected 334 WHP/ 273 TQ. I went to a shop with a DynoJet and it put down 382 WHP/ 308 TQ. I'm happy with this for "now" But I definitely wanna get to the 420-450 WHP range. Here's a quick video and pic.
